Default Address Phone Book unavailable while driving ?

I have a 2006 SC430. When I come to a stop, the telephone address book is visible. As soon as I start driving, the address book becomes greyed-out and I cannot select anyone who I want to call. I'm using my iPhone 4. Is this normal behavior? What is the purpose of having an address book on the dash if I cannot make outgoing calls while I am driving? Thanks.

This is normal. I don't think we are supposed to be capable of doing two thinks at the same time.

Well, while driving you can call 17 people from the address book plus the last number you called via one-touch dialing.

Thank you. I did not realize that the one-touch dialing was a workaround. I also just downloaded a pdf cheat-sheet: Dial; Dial by number; Dial by name; Cancel.

Address phone book? I have a post-it note on my 2002's nav door, but that's as close as I can get. LOL

I may be jealous, but I certainly hope that Bt features are better than the 2010 ES that I drove today while my timing belt was replaced. The number of times I had to hit the button and talk to it to get it to do anything was very annoying.

Heck, I'd just be happy to be able to import my phonebook from my iPhone4!
