Default TPMS Replacement

I am sure this has been answered but I did a few searches and came up empty.

I have a bad TPMS sensor on my R/H Rear . It has a red dot on it. If I buy a new red dot TPMS sensor from Sewell and install it will I have to go to the dealer to have it synced with the system or will the car figure it out and the light on the dash go out? The sensors are 8 years old so they are due to fail but I would like to do them 1 at a time if I don't have to go to the dealer to have them synced.

I'm not sure if all senors marked in red, white, blue and gold use the same transmitter ID identifier color. In addition, you usually need to replace the rubber grommets due to wear.

Yes, the installation kit with new grommets is only $5. I would think they wouldn't bother to color code them if the transmitter id was going to be different, otherwise what would be the point?

TPMS programming will have to be done by the dealer unfortunately. Hence when I change my RFT, I shall extract my TPMS and sell them.

Save your money. Install this one from Orange Electronics for $100. I have it in our SC. Installed it when we upgraded the wheels. Digital readout. Adjustable alarm setpoints.Works great. Velcro the display to the left side of the center console (on the carpeted area) by the drivers knee. Plug it in to the 12v outlet in the center console compartment. Run the wire through a small hole drilled in the bottom of the compartment.

Does this work on stock '02 wheels? The link on Amazon says no, but why not?

If they are 8 years old you might want to switch all 4 but maybe not either, if the sensor is already mounted on the car then toyota would charge like 25 bucks to program the sensor thats what I did. If you go to lexus with one or all 4 they charge a little over 100 for the programing either way. This of course would not include putting it on the wheel which costs the same as having a tire mounted since thats basically what they do.

Same here. It took less than 5 minutes to disconnect the switch. I check the air pressure myself instead of relying on a sensor.
