Default Vehicle Service Agreements

"Vehicle Eligibility - Vehicles qualify if within current plus 9 model years and less than 125K miles. Used vehicle plans must be purchased at the time of used vehicle sale ONLY."

I'm still shopping used SC's and very few (That I can afford) have any warranty remaining. In order to purchase a Lexus VSA I assume that you must buy the used vehicle from a Lexus dealer? I understand that the SC's seem to be mostly bullet proof but before I shell out +30K for a used vehicle I'd like some knowledge that I could get coverage for major repairs.

Thanks

I bought a 2003 with 31k last year and Lexus sold me a warranty. It is the same as the new car warranty. I did not buy the SC from a Lexus dealer.

Lexus will sell you an extended warranty if the car fits the requirement. Best way is to talk to the dealer and get your answers.

I would talk to Toby Rivers from Lexus of Shreveport Bossier in LA. He's the best and I bought my Lexus Platinum from him.

Default Lexus warranty

soundsuper, I bought a 2003 with 31k last year and Lexus sold me a warranty. It is the same as the new car warranty. I did not buy the SC from a Lexus dealer.

Which Lexus sold you the warranty? Do you have the contact information?
I was told by my Lexus dealer that they could not sell me a warranty, for my 06 TEM - PBE with 11K on it....

Another Toyota warranty source that's received a lot of positive comment on this and other forums is:

Is the OP referring to "service" agreements, or extended warranties? His original comment tag line says Vehicle Service Agreements.

I don't know about service agreements, but I am now all too familiar with an extended warranty I purchased through my dealer. I purchased my 2002 1¾ years ago through a private party. Took it to a dealer my wife and I have purchased from is the past and had them go over the car with a fine tooth comb. They identified two problems not disclosed by the seller (a bent rim and worn tires). Since I was going to replace them anyway all was good. I inquired about an extended warranty and negotiated a price. So far the car has generated three warranty claims, and all were covered with little or no hassle. (A door speaker, motor mounts and my latest the luggage door hinge assembly.)
With the $5K cost of the last repair on the hinge assembly, I am well ahead on the cost of my warranty and have 2¼ years left to go.

I will confess before the hinge problem, I was beginning to wonder if I had over spent on the extended warranty. But looking back and remembering at my time of purchase it was about peace of mind, rather than just the money. Now, of course, I am very pleased with my decision to buy the warranty. I can offer three pieces of advice;
  1. Extended warranty costs are negotiable.
  2. Carefully read what is specifically EXCLUDED from coverage. Buy the best one you can afford.
  3. Having a warranty allows you to enjoy the car much more. Knowing if something major happens it's covered.

I did not purchase my 2008 RX 350 from a Lexus dealer. It had 47,000 miles when I purchased it and at 49,925 miles I purchased a Lexus Platinum extended warranty (the same warranty that Lexus dealers sell you for ALOT more!) through Jerry Johnson at Midwest Toyota Superstore, 800-530-5789, Cell 620-664-8844, jerryj@midwestsuperstore.com. His prices are THE BEST!

I purchased the 7 year/100k mile warranty, $0 deductible for $1615.00.

I went to the Lexus dealer this past weekend and they confirmed that I have what I purchased, the Lexus Factory Extra Care Platinum Zero Deductible Warranty! Lol, the service person was shocked when I told him what I paid for it because the dealer sells it for about $1000 more!

Now for lexus warranty, inorder to keep th warranty working, is it a requirement that you service the car at participating Lexus/Toyota dealer that would keep record on carfax.

I heard numerous case that when you take the car to the dealer for service, the dealer would tell you to replace this and that part and it will void warranty if you don't replace them Example; brake rotor, engine flush, transmission flush, water pump, belts, radiator, shock/spring. These service cost hundreds for each of them and not cover by warranty. They put it at require list instead of the recommend list.

I personally have a experience with Bay Ridge Toyota service, this dealer is scum, you can check their review on google. Back in 2001 where the power window fail and under warranty. I bring it in for diagnosis and they tell me its not cover because I never bougt the car there for service and I have window tinted and quoted me $465. I decline and they charged me $76 for the diagnosis. Took to a local shop and fixed for $120. Internet was not popular at the time and I was unknowledge to pursue to Toyota corp.

Window tint void warranty?? You gotta be kidding me!! Since that, I never trusted warranty

The dealer has accepted my offer and I will pick up a 2005 Black/saddle SC with 31K miles Labor Day weekend. I've since contacted the folks that were supplied by this thread -Mr. Rivers and Mr. Johnson re the extended warranty. Mr. Johnson said that since I was in AR he could not bid, Mr. Rivers quoted the following:
3 year 36000 = $1965.00
4 year 50000 = $2650.00
5 year 60000 = $3315.00
All three are Lexus Platinum warranties with a ZERO ded. I am still undecided but leaning towards the 3 year. I appreciate all of the input.
