Default 2 questions on brakes and rotors

1. Would IS250 front brakes (calipers) and rotors fit the SC430
2. Would this be an upgrade, my braking on the IS250 seems much better than on my sc430...by ALOT! (im upgrading to IS350 Calipers and ROTORS so ill have new IS250 rotors and calipers)

come on guys help me out because if this does work we will be able to upgrade on the cheap since all the IS250 guys swap out for IS250, FSPORT, Or ISF caliper and rotors and then sell the is250 stuff dirt cheap.

I just dont know what exactly to look at?

Be sure to check out the weight of the two cars, the SC430 weighes in at about 4000 lbs and may be considerably heavier than the IS. If so, the IS brakes are probably not suitable for the SC430.

I've only heard of Supra TT and LS400 brakes installed on our cars. Are the IS250 calipers and rotors bigger than the SC430? Also, what width tires are you running on your IS vs your SC? As said before, weight plays a big part too, Wiki puts the IS at about 3,500 and the SC at 3,840, about 10% heavier.

IS250 - 1,558–1,600 kg (3,435–3,527 lb)

SC430 - 3,840 lb (1,742 kg)

So at most we are talking a 300lb difference, however for me they are about the same since my system is extremely heavy in the is250...2 12 w6v2s a ED Nine.1 and the wood box.

That being said I think the brakes will be able to handle it...just need to figure out the brake and rotor size...ill measure when i get home unless someone can find that online.

Agree also. My SC's brakes are as good as the is250. If you don't find the brakes as good then you may have an issue. Upgrade the rotors, replace the pads and fluid and you should have brakes every bit as good. The IS.

ok for those of you saying that they are as good as the IS brakes...you havent driven an IS so you probably have no basis for comparison. Im not asking for an opinion on do you think they are good or not I want people to chime in that have worked with the brakes and done brake mods IE BBK, Supra, and LS swaps.

owning both cars i say the sc430 brakes are compareable to the is250 brakes. as you know, i have the ls400 brake calipers. its your best bet upgrading to that. definitely feel an improvement overall. plus they are bigger and look better then is250 brakes. I honestly don't know if they fit or not. no one has ever tried considering they're just is250 brakes. is350 calipers are a whole nother story. since you are upgrading to is350 calipers on the 250 maybe you should provide us the info if the 350 calipers will bolt up or not to the sc430. its just two 17mm bolts and removing the rotor.

i looked into that as well, i found an sc400 that did it but they needed to ghetto rig it somehow...search in the sc400 fourms and youll know what im talking about.

Does anyone know if the sc430 changed brake specs from the sc400 or if it was left unchanged?

That could be a good basis for research. What all did you need for the LS conversion?

Rebuilding the ls400 calipers itself, a cutter to cut some of the dust shield. It was completely plug and play.. Front rca are required too.
Like i said remove the caliper from two 17mm bolts, remove the old rotor, test fit the new ls400 caliper to see how much of the brake dust shield you have to cut off.. Install new ls400 rotor, caliper, Then bleed the brakes.

If it needs to be ghetto rigged i surely wouldnt want to do it. Brakes = life haha. I honestly wouldnt even go through the hassle of doing the swap for 250 brakes. Doing 350 brakes would cost you the same as ls400 brakes assuming it would fit. I hear supra calipers are direct bolt on.. Which i would advise you to go that route. Harder to find and a tad more expensive but you still have to think about no longer needing to buythe front sage rca(185$).

you will definitely need some custom brackets to mount the 2IS/3GS/LS460 calipers onto the sc430 properly.
unless they are is350 4-piston ones, i don't see the point of installing the is250 2 piston calipers onto the sc430 that already comes with 2 piston front.

however, i'd rather get the ls460 calipers that are larger than the 1s/gs 350 if i can get the custom brackets done.
