All SCs were Gen 2/3 or 4 until 2010 which are the "gainy" old looking navigation units. You can easily upgrade the 2/3 systems to 4 but its not a big difference.
The Gen 5 which is in my 07 Is250 is not grainy and looks pretty similar to the Gen 6 which is what the 2010 SC has, they skipped over the Gen 5 units all together. RXs went to Gen 5 in 06 I believe.
