I'm making progress

Only had the Injen short ram intake on my workbench in my garage for four weeks, it's finally out of the box!

I'll be honest, I'm a little overwhelmed with all the instructions/parts. I was going to jump in tonight but decided it would have to wait till Fri/Sat when I can dedicate more time.

How long did it take for you to install?

I've looked at about all the posts for the injen install as well as the pdf they provide and I'm about to jump in before our local meet on Saturday in DFW.

Anyone have some Cliff's Notes and tips/tricks on install? I hope I don't have to trim my red engine cover!

I have a heat shield (the injen chrome with red letters) but I can't see how it would fit---the filter is almost right up against the back of the headlight. Do you all use a heat shield? Are you concerned with not having one if not?

I want to clean my MAF sensor and clean out any carbon---anyone do this? I believe Bob from AZ (AzKaty's husband had a SC too but sold) had done this, but there are no DIY.

If anyone has tips/tricks please feel free to chime in. Thanks!

SCdroptop..I do not remeber that Bob had to cut anything..Steaddyeddy bought his intake, ..think it took both of them an hour..

I installed mine in about 1.5 hrs, removing the OEM intake took longer than installing the new intake. You don't realize just how big the OEM is until you take it out and see all the empty space. Make sure you have socket wrench extensions, I had to run out and buy some while doing the install. I didn't have to cut the engine cover, although the corner does hit the intake. Some people have dremeled the cover to make it fit better but I didn't want to go through the trouble. I don't have a heat shield on mine but I think there'd be enough room for it. I wasn't too worried about heat from the engine. The hardest part was figuring out which hose goes where. Here's a close up of mine (I don't recommend zip ties for the hoses lol I used these temporarily until I bought some hose clamps):

I found that the top engine cover pushes down on the injen Pipe but other that that its a very easy fit.

I also added a cold feed pipe as well to make sure extra cold air got to the filter.

The engine gives a slightly better mpg and sounds so much nicer

Indeed the engine sounds much much nicer!
I personally didn’t notice an improvement in the fuel economy…

For a perfect fit, it is better to trim the engine cover, as the interference between the two parts is fairly important, plus it looks better trimmed IMO. (will post pictures later this afternoon)…

Blast-Off, do you have a picture? I'm guessing it was custom made?

I only used a Silicone Ducting with each end having a wide scoop and fixed one end behind the front grill and the other infront of the filter.

Most of the guys on here are from the States with big open roads, in the UK I was getting 24 per gallon without the injen on and 25 with the unit fixed on to the car.

I got mine from AZKaty (again thank you and a great person to deal with) and like she said it did take about an hour or so. Also what redliner8 said, it took longer to get the stock one off, than putting the injen on. Also trying to figure out where to put one of the holders for a hose. Trying different angles. Yes the cover looks like Blast-off's and you could trim it if you want, I didn't either.
Didn't improve gas milage one bit. Both her foot and mine are always making it growl, so there goes the gas milage.
