First Drive up Pacific Coast Hwy in my SC430
I finally got a chance to take my 2002 SC430 up the coast to Santa Barbara with the top down on a beautiful sunny California day.
I am truly impressed by this car!!!
I have done this drive many, many times, but alone in the SC with the top down and pandora radio streaming over bluetooth to my ML stereo made the drive a wholly brand new experience.
One of the Highlights was transitioning to the 101 fwy in oxnard and having a flatbed truck pass me with a full load of strawberries, fresh from the field, that entirely engulfed me in the scent of sweet fresh fruit.
Coming back along the same route at the end of the day was equally rewarding. I had the seat heater and cabin heat blowing on the driver's side, and the passenger side aircon was blowing cold air over the sushi I was bring home to my wife for dinner.

Life is grand, huh?
Very jealous of you. Driving up Highway 1 is something I've always wanted to do....ever since I heard Johnny Rivers singing about it.

I was in Calif last year for a friend's wedding and drove up US1 from Cambria to Carmel, a drive I have always wanted to make. Unfortunately, I was in a rental car, and all I could think of was how nice this ride would be in my SC430. Still, even in a crappy rental car it is one of the world's great drives.

The inventive use of heat and air were a great eye opener for me!
Cool... nice writeup. I lived for many years in San Francisco and drove to SoCal and the Laguna Beach area to visit friends many times. Despite lousy traffic in and around the major metro areas, the CA drives are still my favorite.
