I have had a similar problem for quite some time. Lately, I am on a good streak, so my diagnosis efforts have been put on hold.

JDAVE and OBP: when you two have "failure" are you referring to just "no heat at seat," or are you also saying that the light on the rotary switch is not working.

OBP and JohnyCake:

Thanks a lot for your posts; awesome to have such quick and helpful replies! In my case, the heat seater switch lights work always; but, the seat never gets warm. It only worked the other day this week for the first time since my dash removal airbag fix in June 2014.

I was driving to the dealer to have them replace the seat heat controller which they had decided was the problem when I tried OBP's headlight switch maneuver. Within about 30 seconds, the seat began fully heating bottom and back. The dealer had checked everything earlier this week from the fuse, to the switch, and they determined all were getting power but the controller was not passing that power on; as I posted earlier, they replaced the controller and it did not solve the problem.

Has this happened to either of you guys or anyone else, after having the dash removed for the airbag recall? Mine worked fine until that was done.

thanks again!
Dave H

Never had the airbag recall done cos I am a 2005. I have had both rotary switch light failure as well as a working rotary switch light but no heat. Seems like I had no trouble today when I took the car out with a friend. Both sides were good.

Likewise did not have the airbag replaced since I have an 06.

I will try the "headlight maneuver." Is this switch to off and leave off, or can you put it right back to auto?

I only tried the headlight fix once and left the auto setting off; headlights are turned off. But, it's still at the dealer being looked at.
Perhaps OBP can update how many times this maneuver has worked for him.

My car is a 2002 with 56K miles by the way.

Thanks,
Dave H

IIRC what I did was after noticing the rotary switch failure, I happened to turn my headlights from auto to off. The next time I turned the rotary dial for the heater, it lit up ( like it "woke up") and I got heat in my seat. IIRC my passenger side was intermittent at that time but now both sides are back and working consistently as far as I can see. After the rotary switch "woke up", it was OK for a while and then there might have been one or two more short failures but the headlight to "off" move would wake it up again. I have been trouble free now for several months so am happy for now.

I think I left the headlight at "off" for a bit but obviously the next time I drove at night, I switched it back to auto.

Default Drivers heater stays on while driving

Suddenly my driver seat heater stays on even though I do not have it turned on. I pulled fuse 23 in passenger fuse box. Seems like that solved the seat portion but not the upper back. I live in Florida so I don’t even need this feature. Anyone else experience this weird happening? Please help!

I was able to get the full thread. Since I am a Moderator, I can access. Dave is looking into the details of the attachment, he wants to make sure the original owner agreed to share this post/attachment. Let's wait.
