I twice now in 2 years have had a slow leak (lose ~ 2 lbs. pressure/wk) at one point on the wheel/tire bead (same tire and I think same point) on my '02 SC with Michelin Sport A/s Plus tires mounted on aftermarket, chrome ASA by Revolution wheels. My tire guy put it in the 'bath' , spotted a few tiny bubbles and broke the tire down. He showed me a rough spot on the inside of the wheel rim and said some chrome was flaking (are these not chrome "plated" but "solid" chrome wheels?). Each time he rubbed a handful of soap (looked like grease) on the spot and remounted it. It is still holding pressure after a week but I had the same thing done (same tire) a year ago.
Anyone with a similar experience and if so, do you have a better fix?

I had this problem before. I took the tire off an sanded down the spot where it was leaking and it got rid of the problem.

I had this problem with the OEM wheels and ditched them for a set of Foose Nitrous 20's.

It apparently is pretty common that wheels leak at the bead. An easy way to tell is to spray some Windex around the wheel at the bead. If it bubbles, it's leaking.

Wheels are plated, not solid chrome. Chrome is applied over aluminum or steel with an electrolysis process that binds it to the wheel. Sometimes in areas of the wheel (like the bead area) it may be not as suitable to a good chrome plating job as the rest of the wheel.

Removal of the tire, sanding, cleaning and tire bead sealant are all you can do.
