Default Resonator Delete w/ pics & video!

Just got a resonator delete! Took some pics and a before and after video for those of you who are interested or considering this mod. Local muffler shops can do this for $40-$60; I got mine done for $50 and it took 30 minutes. I don't believe if affects the performance, you just get a more throaty growl which causes even more heads to turn

Enjoy!

Very nice sound!!! Not too much, not too little. And for the price. How is it going down the freeway? How is it for an extended period of time? Top up? Top down? I'd hate to cut them off and find out the noise gets to you after a couple of miles. And then to get them put back on cost you a bundle because the pipes ar too short. Been down that road already when the police pull you over and tell you it's too loud.
Your opinion please.

Sounds good! Mercedes guys do it to their AMG all the time. Makes the car sound a lot more throaty and aggresive

Would this kind of mod affect o2 readings for passing state inspections?

Yeah the resonators are there to minimize the sound, shouldn't affect smog.
While cruising on the freeway it is barely noticeable since our cabin is very quiet... with some music playing you can barely even hear it unless you floor it. Sometimes I would just roll down my windows so I can hear the mean roar =)
I would say it is comparable to the g35 350z sound though I haven't heard it from outside myself, always been in the car. At first, I was going to change the full exhaust system because I wanted something louder... but after my friends started getting pulled over for too loud exhausts, I decided to go this route. I remember the first day after I got the delete, a cop rolled next to me. For some reason my exhaust sounded even louder haha but he just drove right by. Hope this helps your decision!
Oh yeah, ask the shop to do a clean cut so if you did want to remount the resonator back to stock it would be easier.

I've been reading a little about resonator deletes and they were talking about some kind of drone noise. What does that sound like?

Well in the after video, I kept the car on idle to see if I can catch that drone noise. Again, it is not noticeable in the car, let alone when I'm driving. You can hear it the most when you hit 1-2k rpm, otherwise it is pretty quiet. Personally I like to hear some exhaust when driving a sporty car.

Oh what I meant was, what IS a drone noise. Lol sorry for the confusion.

Also noticed you're from SoCal, where did you get it done?

Oh haha, no worries.
Well I'm not quite sure how to describe it... but when you drive at a constant speed you can hear your exhaust, which is the drone noise. I consider the noise when you keep it on idle a "drone" too... unless I have no music playing (which usually doesn't happen) and I'm gassing it just enough, then I can hear the drone but it doesn't bother me.

Would love to hear/see another video of you taking off and driving by the camera with one of your friends holding it. Hint...hint!

Cool mod!
On russian forum I've read about moscow sc430 owner, who deleted not the resonator but a catalyst just before the resonator.
He's reason was that the removing catalyst allowed the engine to "breathe"..
What do you think of that? What pros and cons it has vs resonator removal
