Default Spare Tire

I just bought a Camry spare tire on EBay for 65 bucks plus 35 bucks for shipping. Was thinking about buying a tire kit but the tire fits fine in the well, so I'm not going to get it. I intended to use the tire for long trip only. The tire takes up the space for the luggage but we have a rear seats so it works out.

What happens if that bangs against that top container and it jacks up the contacts needed to put the top down? I hope you come up with a way to ensure that the tire is secure. The thought of trying to replace the top contacts down those slots would give me nightmares. Just a thought.

I did that two years ago and have had no problems. The spare is just loose and does not move around. I think you are creating you own worries, relax and enjoy your beautiful car.

Jim

Unfortunately a gentlemen in Lexington KY wanted my 06 SC430 more than I did. I sold it about a month ago. It was just a thought. I am sure GmanSC has it covered.

you can secure the spare tire with the scissor jack.
a few turns and the jack will squeeze the rim of the spare and prevent any bouncing around.
tip: make sure the valve stem is at the 12 o’clock position when storing the spare so checking and topping the air pressure is easier.

i used some carpeting to cover the tool area and a cargo blanket to cover the spare. not the prettiest but good enough for me.
