Exclamation Motor Mount & Transmission Mount Location Diagram

Friends,

I am wondering if anyone has a diagram showing the locations of the Motor Mounts (two of them) and Transmission Mount (one) on the SC430 (2002, in my case).

I am getting these items changed out at a non-Lexus mechanic and want to make sure the mechanic knows the exact location of these items which he will replace.

If anyone has a diagram showing these locations please share.

Thank you very much.

VVTiBob, thank you for the diagram. It will come in handy very soon.

Interestingly enough, the motor mounts are $165 a piece at local Lexus dealers, yet Sewell Lexux Online Parts has them for under $70. The dealer also quoted 3 hours of labor for the install (at $130ish per hour, I think?)

Hopefully this diagram will allow my local independent mechanic to take care of this item for much less.

I have started several previous threads on this subject and finally decided its time to get this work done... the shaking is more noticeable with the warm weather when I have the top up but the windows down. Also, a evap cable under the hood keeps getting disconnected which I understand is due to bad motor mounts. (see my other thread at https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...and-p0446.html)

Thanks again!

Well there is a correlation between age of the car and durability of these mounts, and if memory serves me...there was a TSB on this ...
If a visual inspection reveals cracketl or torn rubber at either mount, replace both the stabilizer and insulator with sturdier, redesigned units (Part Nos. 12381-50140 and 12361-50151, respectively). Coupes built at or after VLN JTHFN4#Y#4()056830 already have had the upgraded mounts installed on the assembly line.

VVtiBob, thanks for your response. The items I ordered from Sewell Lexus were as follows:

MOTOR MOUNTS - Engine Mount Part 1236150151 (I ordered two of these, my assumption is that they're identical?)

Transmission Mount Part 1237150200 (I ordered one of these)

I did not order the stabiliser (part 12381-50140), but your post makes me think I need one of these also? Sewell's site shows the stabiliser for years 2006-2010, but mine's a 2002. I'm a bit confused. If you have any insight please let me know. Thank you.

I called Sewell back and they said the stabiliser part for the 2002 SC430 is part number 12381-50071.

I finally got this work completed. I bought the three parts at Sewell (two motor mounts, one transmission mount, as outlined above), which came to around $150. My independent mechanic (non-Lexus) performed the installation work for $200. I did hand him a print out of the diagram showing the location of where the parts go (thank you VVtiBob!) which I think partially reduced the time it took him to perform the work.

I'll update this thread later with information on whether this repair job fixed the shaking engine issue and the evap hose getting disconneced issue.

I thought the engine mount part numbers are different, ie left and right engine mount.

Can someone confirm this please?

gripau1, I just looked at my invoice and the actual part numbers ARE different on the invoice, one is 1236150151 and the other number I can't fully read on my invoice but it starts with 1237150200** (**inclicates unreadable numbers).

Below is how the order confirmation looked after I placed it online:

MOTOR MOUNTS-Engine Mount (2 required)
1236150151
$61.75 2 $123.50
MOTOR MOUNTS-Transmission Mount
1237150200
$61.75 1 $61.75

Guys,

Replacing engine mounts and the new pieces came in today. The mounts were in bags with the Toyota stickers and part number: 12361-50151 (which I think is correct).

However, the only identifying marks on the actual mounts is embossed in the rubber: 12361-50021. I think that is a legitimate part number: a mount for an older LS400 (mid 90s). These do look to be the correct mounts, though, per the two studs at the base (compared to only one, I think, for the LS400s).

Can anyone confirm if these are 12361-50151? I know pictures would be handy, but not able to do that right now. Maybe someone blazed this trail before?

@ Jasone36 / barcadi - what mileage d myour sc's have? I haven't noticed vibration yet at 57k - am I getting close? Might make sense to do the change when I get the PPE headers installed.

Thanks
