coilover feedback wanted

THe HA's are stiffer...no luxury ride with those....don't just look at the PRICE when you pick coilovers, pick the features you want, find the coilovers that fit your needs, THEN worry about how you're going to pay for it...
For me, I have the FLEX in a GS430 (EXACT same units that go in the SC430) and I have noticed that they are tiny bit stiffer than my H&R Stage 4 coilovers...however, it's still not bad and no where near as bad as the HA's...I am going to try to play with the dampening setup to see if I can get it to be the same as my H&R's...
Even if I had an LS430, I would STILL do coilovers...the height adjustability and better cornering performance is unbeatable..

Stupid/ Newbie/ Non-car-guy question
At the risk of being flamed and totally trashed by you folks who obviously are at a mod level far above anything I have ever considered (i.e. upgraded wiper blades on my SC400), please either tell me or give me some links re what exactly a "coilover" is, what it does, and why I might want them.
At the expense of being totally abused, I'm willing to learn a little.

Lowered suspension is one of the must-have features of today's modern street car. Conventionally this has been achieved by a simple set of lowered springs on standard shocks - fine, but no change in ride height. Height-adjustable shocks? Not a bad idea, but often very difficult to change the ride height, usually requiring a suspension shop to do the work (at a cost).
Full integrated coilover systems incorporating a shock, threaded sleeve and spring have the advantage of easy height adjustability - simply jack up the car and wind the spring seat up or down at leisure.

Here is a pic of the coilovers before installation.. Might help if you can see what we are talking about..
Tein Flex Coilover Pics Before Installation
And yes any GS spec coilover will work on the SC430.. But honestly I would stay away from the Tein HA since its just to stiff for the SC430 from the two times I have driven a GS with HA's at the softest setting and a 2" - 2.5" drop.. For those considering coilovers definately go with either the FLEX or the CS Type in the Tein line.. Other coilovers be sure to ask Manaray since his knowledge base on this subject is extensive!
