Cool Hello! Goal = SC430 in the Fall!!!

Hello All!

I just wanted to say hi! (Hope that doesn't irritate anyone!)
...and tell you about myself.

I currently own a 2000 Cadillac DTS that I want to keep. (Will everyone still talk with me?) I won't mention the problems I've had with that car in the first 30,000 miles. But the dealership has fixed it all so far, and the car is running fine now. (Knock on wood!)

However, I'm looking into buying a 2003 SC430 in the Fall. In order to do that I'll be selling my 1996 SeaRay 210 bowrider ski boat as part of the down payment. I love boating, but I think one V-8 toy at a time is in order.

I'm hoping to get any information I can from this great pool of SC430 owners! Please help comfort me while I go nuts waiting for that time in September (?) when I can finally order a 2003.

Hope to chat with you soon!

Signed

Dreaming of an SC430 in Egyptian Sand Pearl with Saddle Leather interior. OK, so I dream in detail!

rscharf,

Hafa Adai From Guam! You will find that this forum is very helpful. Ask away (make sure you do some detailed searching first - so you don't get slammed jk) and I'm sure you will get answers. Good luck on the wait. I only had 45 days and it almost killed me.

Welcome to Club Lexus.. Like Genearch said the wait is "KILLER" but like they say the best things in life are worth waiting for..

Please read the FAQ as it will help alot as a new upcoming owner.. One thing I can pass along from what I have heard through my friends at the dealership is that the TRD wheel that you can buy from Lexus as an aftermarket part right now (See SC430 Gallery for picture) will more than likely become the new wheel choice on the 2003 SC430..

Default TRD Wheel -> Looks a lot better than dinner plates!

Thanks for that promising info on the wheels. I could handle those TRD wheels a lot better than the dinner plates, I hope you're right. I had a big laugh when I read about the reference to dinner plates in another thread.

I really didn't want to spend extra money on the car initially, except for tint, LoJack, dash cover, rubber floor mats, bra, and an extended warranty. I can barely convince myself that I can afford the car. I was going to live with the stock wheels, but they aren't very impressive!

First question, althougth it's not directly related to the SC, how does everyone feel about adding LoJack (sp?) to a car for stolen vehicle tracking. I'm surprised that Lexus doesn't have some form of something like OnStar on their vehicles already. Thoughts?

Thanks.

Robert

You folks in here know a LOT more than I do about nose bras. I read several years ago, that unless they're perfectly fitted, they will wear off the paint and do more damage than not having one at all.

Have things changed? Or was that author blowin' smoke.

Welcome. You'll get all your questions answered here as long as they don't have to do with anything mechanical or self detailing.

Sorry guys, but most of you need to be a bit more well rounded when it comes to automobiles.

Sorry Gen. There are a few exceptions on this forum. It seems most of the interest here tends to lean more towards cosmetics like wheels, color combinations, etc. I'm a grease monkey from way back as well, and would rather do it myself than pay someone. I get enjoyment from tinkering.

I guess I was just used to the NSX forum where it's all about speed and engine mods as well as do-it-yourselfers.

September is about 4 months away, I've heard of people being on the waiting list for longer than that, depending on the color choice you want. Not sure what the wait on the 2003's is going to be, if any, but maybe you want to talk to your dealer and get your name on a list if you are serious. It would be true agony to wait 4 months only to find you have to wait 3 more!
Good luck and welcome to the forum.

Don't know much about LoJack but we have something here in Ontario, Canada that is called Boomerang.. We have version #2 of this service on both our Lexus vehicles and from friends who have had this service alot longer than we have swear by it.. Luckily we haven't had to use it but its nice to know its there..
