I just installed the SL2i-UP. It really does work great and I am so happy for the added gps benefit. I just wanted to thank this forum for making the install easy. Tom

Congrats! Glad you like it and agree that the nav-bypass is the coolest. I would have paid almost that much for just the bypass itself! What a nuisance! I look at it this way, I got FREE ipod player and charger with my nav-bypass tool!!! lol

VERY IMPORTANT UPDATE ! MAKE SURE YOU GET THE SL2i-UP I didn't and got the "old style" SL2i unit, THEY DO NOT CHARGE YOUR IPOD OR IPHONE now I have to pay to have another installed ! this is a very disceptive business practice on the part of Vais I can not believe they didn't tell me or my installer !! they are dumping there old units to people who don't know this ! then they try to sell you an updated cord ! BEWARE and make the correct choice... thanks to SCdroptop for all the help sorting this out

if you have an older SC (pre 2006), you need the unit you have. they're clearly listed on their site this way. if you want to charge your ipod, you can buy an apple AV cable. you can plug the usb connection into a USB lighter plug. the newer vais unit will not work with older cars.

2005 works too...I know!

2005-2009 I was told have the same nav systems or are sisters/brothers of each other that's why the SL2I-UP works for all...also same reason why (unfortunately) your 2009 doesn't even offer text!

just something i learned over with the IS crowd...the 9.1 and 10.1 maps should eliminate the "i agree" staying on the screen it will automatically go away.

Not for the Gen2-3. I have the 10.1 and the freeking I agree has not gone away, how many seconds does it take?

VAIS is a lousy company! I bought the SLU kit and it DIDN'T WORK! AND they won't give a refund. Be careful if you buy from these people. They're rude and uncooperative.
