VSC, VSC Off, and ABS lights on ... again
Heavy rain. Storm drains plugged. Drove through a monumental puddle reaching more than halfway across the road.
When I reached my destination those three lights were on, but not the Check Engine light (Malfunction Indicator Lamp).
The code checkers at Autozone can only read Check Engine codes, so they had no clue. A pseudo mechanic looked for obvious undercarriage problems during an oil change, but found none.
The last time two times those three lights were on, it indicated a bad oxygen sensor, but I think the Check Engine light was on then.
Any clues?
Thanks
EdP

My experience with this issue is.....wheel speed sensor. My 02 sc430 front passenger speed sensor was replaced in August 09. VSC, VSC off, ABS...but no check engine light THAT what I had. Every thing was about $250.00 for this service. It would be more at the stealership. Autozone can't tell you what these codes are. The machine my mechanic used to check mine cost him over $10K plus yearly update. So, you do the math. Here's the TRICK for you. Start your car as usual, these code would come on, turn your car off with your key remained in the ignition, wait 15 to 20 seconds, then start your car again. It should turn off......I tried it for few months before it stayed on with no matter what you do. It costs around $210 at the stealership for this speed sensor cable. Good luck!!!
One more thing, these lights also would come on if you recently upgraded your wheels or work on your after market BBK or something related to that. I hope this would help. Take care ALL

Ned ...
Thanks for the input. I wonder if plowing through that water could have affected the wheel speed sensor. Hard to believe the two incidents are coincidental.
BTW - the key "trick" didn't work. I suppose I can turn them off by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes.
droptop ...
There's not much drying out going on around here at this time.
tromley ...
I'll keep you posted, but it's unlikely that I'll have any work done in the near future. I'll be garaging the car for the winter soon and don't want to have work done and not drive the car for four months.
