I was told NOT to go to synthetic until somewhere between 10k and 15K miles so that the engine is properly broken in because synthetic will prevent proper break in

The debate about when to put in synthetic has raged for a long time now. I went with it at my 1st oil change. Some high perf. cars come factory filled with a synthetic oil. Porsche, Corvette, Ferrari and so on. Mobil clearly states that it is 100% safe to put it in from day one and I feel the same way. For my own reasons not just because Mobil says so.
It is the same nonsense that dealers talk when they tell you not to change the oil for an extended period of time due to the fact that additives were placed in the oil at the factory to help with the break-in period. I have no faith in this what so ever, and have run Mobil 1 oil from my 1st oil change on in all of my cars and never experienced a problem with seals or valves or anything engine related, and I drove my last SC400 very hard for 100 000km.
