Im an sc400 owner and i thought maybe i should say something... I think this is a definate no because there would be way too much fighting IMO... the first time i came into this forum, i commented on how i liked the sc400 better and got butchered... there are 3 threads a week about that in the sc400 forum so i think there would be too much fighting, along with chaos finding files... but the SC430 is really nice, dont get me wrong.

I would say call it an SC forum as title and then divide it onto subforums, one for the 300/400 the other for the 430's, and maybe do the same with the other forums with big changes in between generations <like the Gs300 from the early 90's and the 98 or so up?>but dunno, thats just my 2cnts...

I would say yes, but I am in the minority here, I personally like both cars, but as you notice, most of the people replying have the 430, I don't think too many of the other guys even look in here, so keep them seperate, only a couple extra clicks of the mouse to view both if you like

"Well, the GS300/400/430" models are in a single forum. Sure. The GS430 is essentially the same car as the GS400. Obviously not the case with the SC430. I only visit this model's forum (and I owned a 97 SC400 before the SC430). The SC430 is a polarizing car, and frankly, I'd rather talk to other owners here and exchange relevant, factual information (thanks to this list, I had the rear suspension problem fixed; wouldn't have known about it otherwise). This sure beats most other sites with the constant, tired arguments you see everywhere else on the net with little relevant bandwidth of use to actual owners. This may sound a little harsh, but at this point, I really don't care what someone else thinks about the SC430 styling/lack of rear seat or trunk space.

Default Separate

No.
For now at least, being in its first model year, there are issues and discussions that are specific to the 430. Not to mention the strong differences between the cars (18" wheels, stereo, convertible).

Not are they diffierent cars, but one is in production, and the other is not. The SC400 forum is more interested in getting a deal on a pre-owned car and performance modifications, whereas the the SC430 is more into discussing a stock car and ownership of a new model in the first year or so of production.

Default I vote to keep the forums seperate

I am just beginning to learn about the Lexus SC430. This forum has been very helpful to a brand new Lexus owner. I would think if the forums were merged it would be filled with too much information on other models that do not interest me at this time. If ever I do want the information on the other models, I can just click my way to that forum.

NO!!!!!!!
I have owned several old SCs and now the SC 430. These are 2 different cars and they should have separate forums. I would visit this site less often if I had to look through every post to find one that pertains to the new SC.

Default Separatism works in here..not in the real world though

I believe the SC430/400 forum should be separate.

I can honestly say, the 430 forum seems to be the only true ENTHUSIAST site. People really just sharing things w/each other like a brotherhood. The rx300 forum actually comes close.

The 400/300 forum once WAS the way the 430 forum is now, but it's a diff crowd now.

I'm a TWEENER, not yet a 430 owner, but a 400 owner who likes th 430 forum topics.

I must be gettin OLD! =0 no offense folks.
