Default How/When to Change Serpentine Belt

I have a 2003 SC430 with 45000 miles. The belt is starting to make noise until engine is warm. I have no leaks and the belt has some hairline cracks.
Can anyone tell me when it should be changed and any link to how to do it? Have not replaced one, but all it looks like is a nut on the belt tensioner.

Thank you!

If you have cracks in the belt, I'd recommend that you replace it. If it was only squeaking/squealing when you first started the engine and didn't have cracks, I'd say to just tighten it. But with cracks, I'd say the direction is fairly clear.

Replace it now. Buy a Goodyear Gatorbelt. $40 at AutoZone and in 20 minutes you are done.

My '02 only had 18K miles on it and I replaced it because it was squeaking.

Age is just as hard as miles on belts and hoses.

You're right , and with tires also, don't care how many miles I have on them, after five years I get four new ones. Why people take a chance on tires and belts I still haven't figured out!

Since your talkin belts, don't forget the one you can't see, that timing belt is probably due, 6 years or 90,000, per factory suggestion.

Is the Gator belt as good as Lexus OEM?

Thank you for the tread, that was so easy I did my LS430 too! I like the Gator belt, I think it is a good design and was only $28.00 at AutoZone.
