Lexus SC
Combine legendary Lexus build quality, a sumptuous passenger cabin (in Pebble Beach Edition trim, it approaches the comfort of million-dollar coachbuilt cars), and the freedom to put the top down, and you have the Lexus SC -- perhaps the most elegant convertible mass-produced today. There aren't many true luxury convertibles left, and this one is the most comfortable.
It's also the most endangered. When Lexus ends the SC's run after 2009, the automaker will be left with no convertible models. Plans for a range-topping LF are on hold, so the SC is the last Lexus drop-top, at least until the economy turns around and it makes sense to offer a luxurious top-down cruiser again.

I hope it does get discontinued, then, maybe the meteoric drop in values will stop. When you can buy an 02 or 03 with decent miles for $20k, I don't think you can get as much car for your $20k anywhere.

I was surprised that there was even an 09. The Sc was pretty out dated when it was released let alone 7 years later and with it being the most stripped out car on the Lexus lot (other than the SUV's) and one of the most expensive it made me wonder how they sell any now.
While I do like my Sc, more and more its showing its grey. My new 09 work truck has a 3.7L inline 5 making 242 hp. If you do the math, GM is making as much hp per liter as my Sc (the older SC's were rated at 300 but lets face it the new one is 280 and nothing has changed but the way they rate hp). And when I get in my GFs IS250, I'm always reminded that the SC has the bones from the old 2nd gen GS and 1st gen SC as all the switches, keys and what not seem old in comparison.
But gripes aside, my SC still loves out running G35 coupes (hah hah to who ever lost to my SC on the I15 going to Vegas) and 350z's and can turn heads better than any IS can. But the car is seriously outdated..

Even though I sold my `04 more than 2 years ago, I still think the SC430 is a very attractive car to look at. The lines of the SC are quite fluid and almost classic. That said, however, it really bothered me at the time when I bought my GX470 that it had more luxury features (rain sensing wipers, rear view camera) than my SC430. I agree that the SC430 is in serious need of an update; it had deserved flagship status for such a long time that I would hate to see this car drop off from the Lexus line-up.

I will drive the SC until the wheels go square!
I prefer to just drive the SC and enjoy the quality, great looks, decent handling, OK power, superb sound system, terrific drop-top, awesome dependability, good highway mileage, etc. etc.
I know it doesn't have the latest electronics, inifnite horsepower or starter push button. But it does have something that none of these other cars will have: timeless, classic good looks and head turning style even at 7 years old. Few cars get to say that for the period of time the SC has....

The SC430 is like the NSX or a Bentley Brooklands, extremely outdated, but still is seriously nice.
For the same price, would you rather drive a 15 years old NSX or a brand new Honda Accord? Assuming the NSX is low mileage and in great condition.
And I would rather drive a Bentley Brooklands with a 50 years old engine design then a state of the art LS600hL.
Class and technology are totally unrelated.
