I have both cars and I feel like my SC goes faster than my LS. Although, my LS is an 01 like yours my SC is an 05. I don't know if there's a difference from your 02, but I def think my SC feels faster than my 01 LS

I own both currently, 05' LS and 06' SC....I am with CALBOY76 and 97-SC300, the LS "feels" quicker.
The LS definitely feels way smoother and more responsive, it is one of the question that still puzzle me, since supposingly they both got the same engine and tranny, both the engine and tranny got the same price tag. They got the same final drive ratio too, but Lexus don't publish the gear ratio, my feeling is they are the same though.
I am guessing is the computer programming. Lexus want to program the SC to feel more sporty, I think in the process of making it feels sportier, they made it less smooth, that is my theory.
Maybe because the LS is smoother and more responsive, it "feels" quicker.
I think in reality though, the SC is a quicker car, it is 200 lbs lighter, and I do think the SC gather up speed quicker, just "feels" slower.
Feels and actual is 2 different things
