Default R35 Skyline wheels on a SC430 recommended tire size...

I am looking at buying 4 front R35 Skyline wheels for my SC430. They are 20x9.5 with a 45 offset. Based on the attached chart the rear is going to be fine. It looks like I will need a 15mm spacer for the front.

Can I run a 255/30/20 square setup? My car is currently not lowered, however; I plan on installing coilovers in a few months. BTW I am not a fan of the streched tire look so no 235s!

Wow, 81 views and no replies yet.

Hmm OK I will take a stab at it.

Based on the side shot of the silver one with gun metal wheels (see below), the rear is pretty flush. It looks like a 255 would rub with the car lowered. I think it should be OK at stock height with an occasional rub on big bumps.

The front I am not so sure about. Most people seem to run 245's on the front. Depending on the thickness of the spacer, can I get away with a 255 in front?

Anyone have an educated guess to help me out? I am looking at possibly picking these wheels up on Friday.

Why do you need a spacer in front, I've run 19x9.5 32 or 38 offset I forgot 235/35/19 fronts on stock height no problems. I think it will poke rub for sure if it's 20s cuz the wheel itself is so big. I have 19x10.5 23 offset in the rears with 245/35/19 and they fit fine also. The whole set up fills the wells pretty good but looks like I shouldn't rub if I lower. For reference I have 32mm spacers all around on stock pie plates for the winter and it looks super flush already, I might only be able to lower about an inch, looks like might rub if it doesn't naturally Camber enough.

so based on your square set up rears should be fine, it's the fronts that might have issues even without spacers. It's that 255 is pretty wide for the front with no stretch.

Thank you for your response AVSRacing! So it sounds like 255 30 on the rear will be OK. From what you are saying I should probably go with a 245 30 on the front just to be safe? If I have rubbing then buy spacers? I thought I needed spacers for the front due to the offset matrix. With 9.5" it shows the 1st to fit the front is 33mm. I may be reading it wrong though.

BTW do you have any pictures of your setup you are willing to share?

The fronts will poke for sure, you might even have issues hitting the fenders when you turn the wheels since the tire is so big if you run spacers. I just threw stock size and 245 30 20, stock is 26.7" tall, 245 30 20 is 25.8" so it's slight undersize. 255 is 26". So it might fit, but pushing if you add spacers.

Do the wheels come with tires? Just pick them up and test fit to see how much room you have. SC has small brakes so you shouldn't need spacers in the front or have any caliper issues.

Thanks for the help!! It will just be the wheels only.

I will probably buy two 255 30s 1st. I will try them on the front. From there I can figure out my next step tire width, spacer etc..

Thanks for your help AVSRacing. I ended up going a different route though. I got some 19" 8.5" & 9" Work Schwert SW1. Found them at a local JDM parts importer. They are getting refinished so I wont have them back till next week though sigh.

The red center cap will look nice with the red interior when the top is dropped!

A picture of them on an IS...

What offset? Doesn't look too aggressive, are you gonna lower your car?

I will be ordering Meisters next week!

They are not aggressive at all but I plan on running spacers eventually. They are 19x8.5 45et and 19x9 45et. Same offset as stock just wider wheels. I got good deal on the them and couldn't pass it up.

I figured wheels like this easy to sell. Eventually I will get some deep dish or concave looking wheels. I just don't want to mod this car too much until I get something else as my daily driver.
