Default ecru, different colored mats?

My mats get sooo dirty so quick. I did a search and it seems that the general (of the few) consensus is that people are getting black mats?

Any other solutions? Any pics of black mats with ecru interiors? Any help appreciated. Thanks.

I did black mats in a car with a saddle brown interior.

Black mats matches the ecru interior too, since the dash is black . . .

Thanks guys! Appreciate the photo too. The ecru is nice, but the mats get so dirty so easy. And they are near impossible to clean.

Not to be too nosy, but M5 with a handicap placard? That ride must not be too rough on the body

Tensi,

I completely agree that the mats need to be protected. In the past I bought all-weather mats, but I decided that I didn't want the rubbery feeling under my feet.

The color options were so limited when I checked so I decided to make my own. It just so happened that my office was getting new carpet tiles so we had samples that were 24"X24". That was large enought to trace the existing floor mats and cut them with a sharp box cutter.

You can see the edge of the driver's mat in my other posting (it's the fourth picture in the first post) here:

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=359057

The advantages are:

The variety is endless
The cost is zero
You can cut the new driver's mat so that it covers the dead pedal (left foot rest)

Just remember to be really careful with whatever blade you use to cut the carpet. The liability is all yours. We don't want anyone on CL to get the nick name "nine fingers".

I can take a few new pix if you need them. Just let me know.

Here you go! Black Lexus mats with the Ecru interior. Sorry it is a little dirty but I wasn't expecting on taking a few shots of the interior.

NorCal, thanks for the info. I am very curious to see the end product. I would really appreciate pics. For some reason the link doesn't work.

Farkas.. thanks! I love it! I think I may go that route. Of course, you can't really tell from a pic... so what are you real world impressions? Like it?

Yes, I definitely think it is the way to go. The light colored mats are nice if you are not going to drive the car or if you are taking your shoes off as you get into the car. The black mats let you enjoy the car and not worry about the carpet. They look very nice too as they work together with the color of the dash.

If you swap black mats AND carpet in a car with a lighter interior it looks as if the seats are "floating". I did this in a car I had a while back and loved it. When you opened the door the seat stood out, grabed your attention, and invited you in.

Tensi,

Are you planning to get black mats from a Lexus dealer or are you looking aftermarket?

I also like this look and am wondering what it's gonna cost. Keep us informed, please.
