tire pressure sensor
Hey Everyone,
I am having trouble because I recently switched my tires on my SC430, and the sensor for the tire pressure wont turn off, and the beeping wont stop either! I took it to the dealership, and they said I need two new sensors for my rear tires. I think red and gold. The cost is about $145/sensor, and an additional $150/installation of each sensor. I wanted to know if anyone had any input on two questions:
1) If I buy the parts separately, and have my local tire guy install them, will that automatically restart the sensor?
2) Is there a simpler way out? (I know I can turn off the light, but my new tires aren't run flat, and I don't have a spare)
Thank you so much!!

I'm sure the dealership knows what it is talking about, but you do know about the switch in the glove box to rotate between two different sets of tpms sensors, right?
I mean it's not likely your culprit, but it'd be a real shame if it was and you were chasing the wrong cause.

If your sensors are indeed bad and need to be replaced, I'm pretty sure you have to have th TPMS system reprogrammed to recognize the new sensors...and this requires a dealer-specific tool.
Might be cheaper to buy them independently, take them to your local tire guy for installation and just have the dealer do the programming but, I'm not sure how much $$$ you'd save versus the hassle of making 3 trips instead of just having the dealer just do it in one shot.
