Default Sc430 & Pioneer AVIC-Z3

I'm currently debating to replace the OEM stereo with the Pioneer AVIC-Z3. Has anyone besides Gammalex done an integration. I would like to know how it was done and if there were any issues that needed attention. Such as the NAV screen malfunction, security and so on.

Thanks,
Gunny

Sorry for the late reply. Still waiting on pics of your SC LOL. As soon as you unplug the factory radio The factory Nav screen and door stop working. I have a wiring diagram if you need it. I never had a chance to fix this problem. I just need to find the wire that turns on the NAV. You will need to buypass the ML amp but you can use it if you decide to keep it.

ixgunxi,

I know it's not exactly the answer to your question but, I went a slightly different route and installed a CarPC...and couldn't be happier with the results. I use a VaisTech unit to give me an aux input into the existing ML system and the video output is displayed on the NAV screen. I have 120GB of storage space for mp3's, music videos, DVD rips, plus I can play DVD's on the DVD-R drive that's in the PC (I installed it in the trunk)...plus Sirius Satellite Radio, even Internet access. The software I use has to option for navigation as well but, I decided to just keep using the factory system until the software NAV systems look considerably better than my original factory Gen 2/3 system does.

I have all of these additional features...and lost none of my original factory options. I've still have my 6-disc CD changer and my cassette deck (just in case they come back in style).

I paid about the same for my CarPC as the AVIC-Z3 is going for. The audio and video interfaces were around another $500.00 (for both).

I don't know if you're already purchased the Z3 or if you have your heart set on that unit for another reason but, I just wanted to make you aware of some options.

I looked into several solutions and the CarPC seemed to be the only one I found that pretty much had no compromises. To be fair, it was also the most expensive.
