i just repaired the 6x9 speakers in my recently purchased 04 sc....first thing I did was to order repair kit from www.simplyspeakers.com ($26), then for 5 bucks down loaded 20 color pages of inner door removal instructions from http://www.carstereoremoval.com/htm/...movalLexus.htm ....... I am an idiot with tools , so if I can do this, anyone can!! the first door panel took like 30 min (to open), the second under 10 to open. You just need a phillips screwdriver to remove door panel, my other tools were a butter knife, paint can opener and a razor blade. Also you will need a torx screw driver #20- its that star shaped screw head to remove the plastic casing around the speaker. Then just follow the instructions...cut out old foam around speaker and glue in new foam. I bought dynamat at Best Buy for around $50 bucks to cover the door panels...easy to install-(used putty knife) just cut and it self sticks to the metal door, to help reduce noise level. Stereo sounds great again!

Looking good. Any of the mid-range gone too?

I have kept notes on the speaker repair. Great DIY thanks. For $26 to repair a pair, awesome. Best little kept secret if you know what I mean.

Jkt – Thinks for the write up, nicely done. I also have a door speaker that sounds terrible. I was going to break out the big bucks for a replacement but after your write up I’m going to see if a repair will do the trick. I never knew they could be repaired!
