Default Any info on Brake Assist?

When I'm on a curvy road having fun, I need to brake hard for tight curves, but just as I'm ready to let up on the brake and press the accelerator, the brake assist kicks in. Can the brake assist be deactivated or turned off?

You're probably talking about the ABS?
If so, the only way to disable it would be by pulling the fuse. But it will trigger the CEL.

Then again, if the ABS kicks-in, this means that it senses wheel blockage... So ABS is helping you maintaning control...

It's not ABS. It's called brake assist. The car will sense you are braking hard and will "assist" you by applying the brakes harder.

I have a 2006. On page 107 of my manual, it describes brake assist (BA) as "generates an increased level of braking force after the brake pedal is pushed, when the system detects a panic stop situation". There is no other mention of the BA in the manual. It has become more of a hinderance than anything else.

Here's the Lexus explanation: http://www.lexus.com.bh/technology_e....asp?model=All

From the explanation it seems that your could slow the transfer of your foot from the throttle to brake to avoid Brake Assist from kicking in.

BTW this link is a good resource for getting basic information on the car's technology. http://www.lexus.com.bh/technology_e...asp?model=6_SC

Thanks for the link! I think I'll have my brakes checked. It just seems the BA is applied unnecessarily. I can sometimes feel it at normal city stops. Has anyone else experienced this?
