the driver side Low beam HID is definitely dimmer than the passenger side. both HID Low beams are equal in light output b/c I dipped down in front of the car (50ft away) and both shined the same amount of light, but me standing up and looking at the car 50ft away, the driver side is slightly dimmer. I really want to raise that the driver side headlight up just a tad.

anyone know how?

Just use your flashlight at a angle, you can see bolt B right away. It looks more like a dial.

BTW, according to the repair manual, in the case of low beam, rotate bolt A and B in the ratio of 5 to 1 to adjust the optical axis. Hope that helps.

To: Jason702.... just wanted to ask you, were you also turning the adjustment bolt behind the Head Light housing?

the reason I ask is because, the only adjustment screw I've been turning counter-clockwise was the screw on the upper corner of the headLight housing. I did not touch the screw behind the headLights..... its says on the manual, that there are two screws to turn at a 5:1 ratio??????

let me know..... thank you

That info is from my Lexus REPAIR manual, NOT your owner's manual.
Please pay Lexus dealer to do it if you don't have what it takes to play it around.

Bolt A

Bolt B

Hello again,,,,, I turned both bolts A and B........ after 15minutes of turning counter clockwise, the head Lights stayed neutral ( it did not move )...... Jason told me that the "auto level" mechanism prevents us from tampering with it......

the dealerships are the only ones that can move it up and down....... arrrrrggghhhhh.

anyone know why this is?????

I just found out on the Lighting forum that the driver side Head Lights are suppose to be a bit dim (or pointed down a tad) so that oncoming traffic wont get blind sided..... so i guess this is a norm?????

I no longer have old headlight on my car, so I can't test it out for you.

Just wanted to ask one last time......I read somewhere that there is a "auto Leveling" mechanism on the lower control trailing arms???? suspension arms...... what does that do?

I know some owners on the forum had the caution "leveling" head Light warning light come on before?.....

maybe if I can access this, it may adj the head lights.

Yes, the auto-leveling sensor is on the suspension of your vehicle. It lets the headlights know when to move up and down. Based on the position of the rear of your car, it can tell whether you are on an incline or not. I'd advise you not to tamper with this sensor.

The screws on the rear of your headlight as mentioned before are for adjusting the height of the headlight output. I have the same screws on my ES330 headlights. If you turn them correctly, the headlights do move up and down. On my car, counter clockwise moves up and clockwise moves down.

The auto-leveling mechanism keeps your headlights at the height that the screws on the back has them set at if that makes any sense.

So I noticed my Automatic Headlight Leveling System Warning Light turns on and off sporadically. Does anyone know where the sensor adjustment on the rear of the car is located? I recently installed a rear sway bar, does the sensor have anything to do with the bar? Just strange that the warning light comes and goes. Any helpful info is appreciated.
