Default Replacement battery for 2002 SC430

Anybody can suggest what replacement battery for a 2002 SC430 ?
I have tried the Optima Red Top, but when checking with their website, it was not supported .

Thank you

Thx Pearlpower,
How do u like the Optima Red Top ? Does it charge or work as advertised ?
I finally bought it , but since I don't drive the SC that often, maybe once a month, I noticed that just by driving that time , does not sufficiently charged the battery. I have an electric charger to help now

If you don't drive it that often, you probably need to go with the Optima Yellow Top (deep discharge). I use one on my roadster that I don't drive for long periods, too.

However, the only issue might be the terminal placement. I don't know if there's an "R" version of the Yellow Top like the 34R (?) red one.

Generally the larger the reserve capacity of a battery the longer it can hold a charge over a period of time.
Mine sits for a around a week at a time, no issue swith starting

Wal-mart batteries are some of the top rated ones at Consumer Reports. OK, but there was nothing for the SC43O!

I went to the store and found one that is almost the same size. It is size 48-3. It is only half an inch shorter than the OEM but delivers 800 CCA (higher than OEM). This battery has 2 years FREE full replacement warranty, and 72-month prorated warranty. Price is $52.00.

I think it is for European applications like Merkur XR4ti, Scorpion, etc. I researched the web and it shows the same battery being used for the Chrysler Crossfire.

I bought the battery and installed it. Perfect fit. The only things that I had to do extra - and these were optional, it's up to you - were I decided to re-install the car's black plastic battery cover and remove the battery handle. I trimmed the cover an inch all around the bottom so it would fit the height of the battery when installed. The installation looks OEM when all was said and done.

I've had the battery for half a year and all is well. I sometimes don't get to use the SC for two weeks straight and it starts right up.

WhiteLS, what is the name and model of this battery you got from Walmart? Mine died today.

Thanks in advance,
Andrew

Hi Andrew,

The Wal-Mart auto battery brand is EVERSTART. The size is 48-3, and they only sell it in one polarity, meaning, the positive terminal is on one side only (as opposed to other sizes where they have reversed polarity). Hope your local Wal-mart has it on stock. Good luck.

Glad it worked for you, too. While the battery has been tested to perform well and was top-rated, you can't beat the bargain walmart price.

Most auto batteries are made by just three manufacturers, Delphi, Exide, and Johnson Controls Industries. Each makes batteries sold under several different brand names. Delphi makes ACDelco and some EverStart (Wal-Mart) models. Exide makes Champion, Exide, Napa, and some EverStart batteries. Johnson Controls makes Diehard (Sears), Duralast (AutoZone), Interstate, Kirkland (Costco), Motorcraft (Ford), Optima, and some EverStarts.
