I believe doesn't matter how rich I become, I would never buy new, let's say I can afford a $70k new SC430, but I would rather have a slightly used Bentley Continental GT for $70k. Or if I can afford a new Continental GT for $160k, I rather have a slightly used Rolls Royce Phantom coupe....etc...etc.

Until I can afford the most expensive things in the world, like private jet, private island in the caribbean.......I think I will always buy used.
I'm with you BNR34, but even a private jet, I would buy used, there's just too many great deals out there to pass up !!

Correct, used items always have much better value, regardless of what level it is

You pretty much summed up with most of us here are feeling.

The G37 convertible that is still not out yet, still is in a lower class that offer less with a lower price.

All the European offerings, SL550, 650i and S5, cost much more with much less reliability, longivity and refinements.

In my opinion, the SC430 still have no equal.

The only car I want more then the SC430 is a Bentley Continental GTC Speed, which cost 3 times as much, last half as long and still doesn't have a folding hard top
As I posted on the first page of this thread a few years back, this car has given me nothing but joy. I adopted my baby in January of '06 and haven't looked back since. Still in love with her and like a few others have mentioned, I plan to keep this in my fleet for years to come. It ain't for everyone and that's exactly why I love it. To be quite honest, I get so tired of 1Gen SC owners dissing this car and dismissing it (majority of whom are only still driving them because that's what their budget dictates). Much props to the first gen SC and its current owners as it was a special car and and played a significant role in Lexus' ascension.....but this car IMO is a much better car even when you consider the SC300/400 in its heyday vs. the SC430 of today. Part of that I'm sure can be attributed to automotive evolution.

Of course due to evolution, stock to stock, the SC430 is more advance and much more refined then the 1st gen SC. Also the 2 generation SCs are totally different cars, the SC430 being a convertible with no back seats, and the 1st gen are hardtop coupes with a big back seats.

Most of today's 1st gen SC owners are hardcore modders who buy their cars old and beat up for cheap and heavily mod it, they swap in the Supra's twin turbo 2JZGTE with the Supra's 6 speed manual and turn it into a Supra, all components are a direct bolt in, so it is very easy. SC300 worth a lot less then a twin turbos Supra, so it is a cheaper way to do it. These are young kids who don't want a soft and quiet SC430 with very little modding potential, that is why they diss the SC430. They want a 600 hp hardtop coupe with a manual tranny and a big backseats to carry all their homies around. Now you know why.

I'm bringing this thread back from the dead, yo.

Well, after a questionable battery and starter issue, I got both of them replaced and I have to say that the car now runs better than ever before.

Quicker response, ML system sounds better and the engine fires up instantly w/out any sluggish hesitation whatsoever.

Gosh darnit.....I still luv dis car, man....
