LexLaw, you hit it right on I share your sentiment with the SC430. It was love at first sight back in the summer of 2002 when I was on vacation in MA and saw this lady driving an SC430 pass me on I95. Up till that time I had never heard nor seen an SC430 and it just took my breath away, couldn't believe that Lexus could come out with such a sexy, elegant, and stylish beauty. I have never been crazy with cars but since then the image stuck in my mind for all these years. When it was time to get a second car last June, I just went for it. It was not really rationally thought out but man when you are in love, all the logic went out of the windows . The only other car I considered for a second was an IS350. It has more advanced electronics but it was not much of a contest anyway when it comes to class, comfort, luxury and built quality.
Lexus reported that it sold less than 282 SC430 in the US during February 07. Most people would probably argue that the SC is now dying a slow death. I kind of wonder if I was crazy or most people just did not see the beauty in this car. At this rate next year this time, it is conceivable that there will be less than 200 sold per month and I don't see how Lexus can delay coming out with a new SC.

Love it - best measure for me is that if I had to get another car, there's nothing within reason that I'd want more than another SC430. They got the things I care about right (comfort, convertible, gadgets, no need to fund plasma tv and bad pastries for dealership waiting room.)

Would anyone think I am crazy if I said I bought my SC430 to drive for the next 20 to 25 years???? I bought a 2002 a month ago, have driven it twice, and still in storage until early April..I only need to say two words: "It's Michigan!" I will retire from my job in 5 years. I plan to keep my GS400 and drive it throught the Winters, and the SC through the Summers. Hey guys... this car is for all ages....

I remember rolling around in my SC400 when i was 16 and I caught glimpse of an SC430 one day a few months after it came out... I was freakin' ecstatic! The lines, the curves, the only car i see that i feel the same way about the design is a freakin ferrari, and that says a lot for the job the lexus designers did. Not to mention the PHENOMENAL interior, i mean that maple wood with ecru kills me, I love it...

I don't have one but clearly Lexus has a classic here. It has aged very, very well in 7 years. The interior is still one of the finest offered PERIOD. The shape still looks fresh, love it or hate it. The engine still holds its own.
For those that don't know, Lexus really wanted the 1st gen SC to be a convertible and had prototypes but they just were not satisfied with the integrity of the car. The 2nd gen SC was designed from the get go to be a convert.
I remember seeing it in the Brian McKnight video "love of my life" when it first came out.
One last thing, it has seriously maintained its value!

I don't have one but as a SC300 owner, I have strong feelings/opinions about the 430. I won't share my negatives since they've been said several times before....plus the thread starter only wants love.
When modded, it's very sweet and stylish car. When modded, it has an almost star quality about it. When modded, it can sit next to any of the worlds' finest autos and not blink. The interior is befitting a car costing thousands more. It is sweet, very sweet....when modded.

The SC is my wife's dream car. I personally prefer cars with a bias toward a sports car feel rather than luxury / tourer. I finally surprised her with one, which was a HOME RUN guys. I may not have to get her anything again - ever.
But I have to tell you, now that we've had it a bit, it's really grown on me. The quality on this thing is so impressive. I get a big grin on my face just by opening and closing the doors. Very Impressive! Every thing you touch just reeks of quality - the paint, materials and design.
I invent reasons to borrow it now - trips to the cleaners, washing it and doing the 120mph blow dry...

I have read reviews where they say the car is ugly. But I think it is the most original and beautiful car in the world and everyone I meet seems to agree. Some may not like it as it is not traditional. I dont think the car is perfect but I cant think of any other car I would rather own other than maybe a SL if I could trust its reliability. Actually I hope there will be a car that will interest me as I dont want to keep it for 25 years as I like new and cars keep improving.

Actually karmann I want to keep my SC until 2020, it is the best car I've ever owned (31 and counting) and my fourth Lexus. It is superb in every area and does exactly what it was designed to do, and is never in the shop !! The compliments I receive on the car just keep coming from total strangers who still can't believe Lexus makes a drop top. Just think, a car now seven years in production and people still think it just made it's debut !!

Love it! Wish I could drive it more...Hard to turn into the parking lot at work every morning. Almost want to go the long way if I could just get up early enough!

7 years since it's debut and still going strong....Do you still LOVE your SC430?
Well, I orginally opened this thread for all you SC430 owners, lovers and admirers.
I have read all the different threads regarding minor issues, mods and other SC430 related topics here. some good really good info. here.
I finally got the title to my baby last Sept. 08 and she's still running like a charm after 67K miles later. No major or minor issues for me since replacing the truck struts a few years ago (under warranty). Regular synthetic oil changes, 30k and 60k major tune-ups, been aligned once, gone thru 3 sets of Michelin AS and PS2 non-runflat tires and still smooth as she can be.
It's been almost 8 years since it's debut and still going strong....
Do you still LOVE your SC430?
Let's bring back the "class and elegance" of this car and continue the legacy alive from it's original conception up until this day.

To this day, April of 2009, there still isn't a car that offer more then what the SC430 offer, in this price point.
The G37 convertible that is still not out yet, still is in a lower class that offer less with a lower price.
All the European offerings, SL550, 650i and S5, cost much more with much less reliability, longivity and refinements.
In my opinion, the SC430 still have no equal.
The only car I want more then the SC430 is a Bentley Continental GTC Speed, which cost 3 times as much, last half as long and still doesn't have a folding hard top

When I was looking at getting another car last fall I checked out 350Zs, Audis, Infinitis, BMWs ect, ect... I wasn't sure if I wanted a convertable or a coupe. Most of the other cars the interiors looked boring plus they all had rag top convertables. The SC 430 was the only car I saw that when I walked into the showroom and saw that absolutly red convertable(with the top down) sitting in the showroom I said "WOW what a beautiful car". The lines were ultra sexy, the interior was what I had been looking for it looked like a luxury car inside and out. Then when the salesman put up the hardtop I was just blown away because it was not a ragtop as I had no idea there was such thing as a hard top convertable(the best of both worlds). When walked into the showroom and I said "WOW what a beautiful car" I knew that car was mine right then and there and this was the little red covertable sports car I had been looking for. I know some of you guys don't think of the SC 430 as a sports car but I have driven nothing but Chevy and GMC SUVs for the past 20 years and I think of it as a sports car.
That is my love story LOL.
