XM Radio and iPOD for 2007 SC430
We currently own both a 2005 LS430 and a 2007 SC420. XM radio was integrated with the NAV display in the LS430, and based on posts at the time, I had the dealer install the antenna in the rear window brake light.
As for XM in the SC430, it turns out there is an excellent 3rd party option. VAIS Technology sells an interface unit (SoundLinQ) that plugs into the Mark Levinson system, allowing you to toggle the AM button through Sat1, Sat2 , Sat3. You can also make Sat3 be your iPOD interface. So no additional visible user interface in the cockpit, and only a tiny (1.5 in square) antenna attached on the outside lower right of the winshield. The XM text displays on the Mark Levinson. There's less dropouts than in the LS430.
The iPOD cable was hidden in the center console and the cable is thin enough that the console can be closed when using the iPOD. I'm one happy camper, since we didn't have to give up the ashtray or worse in order to accomdate XM + iPOD.
Aproximate cost in San Jose, CA - $900 installed.
