I have had these on the car for sometime now but figured I would take some pics as I was raising the rear suspension.
This is the 14.2" kit with Rotora 4 piston calipers.
The pads have some pretty decent initial bite to them so it took a while to get accustomed to the braking performance that these offered. However, as they changed the brake bias dramatically to the rear (estimate 50/50 now) I will be installing the 6 piston setup up front shortly to balance things out. Currently running the Supra TT front brake setup. Each time I brake there is no denying these brakes are back there as the braking power has increased noticeably.
These calipers originally came in silver which I painted red and placed custom Lexus stickers on them.
Look for my 13" Rotora rear 4 piston brake setup in the classifieds section this weekend.
very nice lee. Did u get that powder coated? or painted them yourself?
So you're not using the set you bought from me?
Thanks guys,
I used the brackets from your kit to install these. Had to modify them a tad but all else is fine. Painted using VHT brake paint with clear. I still need to buff down the clear as I have a couple of small runs.
I liked silver but figured that it would have been too much silver as the car color is silver and I wanted something to contrast.
LOL, yeah. it was easier to just get this kit and use the brackets to start with vs waiting weeks or waiting for new brackets to come in which I was not sure at the time would work out.
Probably looks (subjective), braking power, and weight savings (which translates into better handling). That would be my guess.
No weight savings as the Rotora rotors/calipers/pads/brackets are so much larger vs the OEM rotors. In fact the OEM brakes total out to 43lbs. The Rotora setup is 71lbs! So 29lbs more! Not good for unsprung weight. The OEM brakes are so tiny and thin so anything back there would be heavier.
They do allow for a great deal more braking reserve which I put to use yesterday while heading down to the SC430 meet. Had to nail the brakes at 90 during a lane change. No question the cars braking distance is much improved. The difference is dramatic.
Of course they look very hot as well IMO as the car just did not appear ,"balanced" with just front red calipers and the tiny rears.

Oops. I forgot this was the rear setup. I would have thought you would have saved a little with the 2-pc rotors. I guess you probably did or else it would be even heavier.
