Just to clarify, the gas lid on the outside? Or the cover on top of the fuel tank where the fuel pump is located?

The round cover on the outside. When you press the button to open the round lid. So just the outside metal part thats painted your body color.

Ahh, should be two screws on the inside on the cover on the body that holds it on. The door is welded to the open arm behind the black cover peice on the door itself which is held on with a screw. Nothing behind there. So try the two screws on the body itself which can be seen once the lid is open and on the left.

One of the screw in my gas door came loose and it was lost. I discovered it because my gas door wasn't fitting snug against the body. At first I thought that I had just lost the top screw, but discovered that the nut on the back (supposed to be welded in place) was also gone. I had to get a mating nut at a hdwre store and hold it with forceps with superglue on it, and glue it in place. Best to remove the other screw before this is done to get the plastic piece out of the way. Used a screw to position the nut in the correct location while glue was setting, then removed it and reinstalled the plastic piece. Took about 30 mins including figuring our how to secure the nut properly.
