My wife's SC430 chewed through its antenna drive cable and I need some suggestions on accessing the motor. I have replaced two antennae on my LS400s, including removing the broken cable from the drum, so I know how to do that, but I'm not sure what I need to remove to access the unit on the SC430. E.g., do I need to remove the right bracket that holds the top clearance sheet mechanism? Any help is appreciated. Thankx for your help!

I unplugged my antenna on my 2002 SC430 so that I wouldnt have to see that ugly thing and I was satisfied for a while, but now I am getting bad reception in some spots and I still wish I could add that LMS short antenna that we have seen in previous posts. The short antenna only works on 2003 SC430's that have the non retractable antenna that can simply be screwed off. So... my question to you guys is whether or not I could buy some of the mechanical parts for a 2003 antenna from Lexus and have an audio specialist install the short antenna on my 2002?
I know most of you think that this would be a waste of time and money, but little things like this could make me so much more happy with my ride since I often listen to FM radio.
The plastic cable for my antenna broke in the unit. It won't extend to where I can remove it easily. Is there any fairly easy way to remove the entire mast? Do you go throught the wheel well as I don't want to remove any of the top up/down drive mechanism?
you can either unplug it or find some replacement like
That is something that I have been looking for. Just a simple knubbie, instead of a folding metal mast.
