awesome stuff there gerald. thanks for showing us that thing in action again during the meet, definitely something we wanna do in the near future!!! to make it more oem and clean, i am actually thinking about cutting a hole in the area you mount the camera and do a flush mount. that should be pretty clean!

Billy,

I couldn't find a meaningful mfr nor model # for the camera. You can probably ask ebay seller swm902 for that info.

It was $129 plus shipping.

You've never used eBay before ehh? All you have to do is do a search by "seller name" & voila:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SUPER...spagenameZWDVW

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SMALL...spagenameZWDVW

I'm feeling extra nice so here's the link to the reverse camera module:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Lexus-SC430-Navi...QQcmdZViewItem

The 1st link is the one garcia2 bought while the 2nd link is $10 cheaper & the only difference I can find between the 2 is that the cheaper one has a bigger depth (1.2" vs 0.75"). If it was me, I'd spend the extra $10 so I can get the smaller one. The smaller it is, the less obvious for thieves but that's just me. That should help!

I saw a camera like that at Frys just the other day. I believe they were asking 79-89 dollars for it.

Your parents are likely very kind people, it would only be respectful of them to not start playing science fair project with their gift of a $65,000 automobile. I'd recommend picking up a copy of Forrest Mims' "Getting Started In Electronics," lots of great stuff to be learned there, I still have the copy I was given at age 9 and refer to it now and then.

Another good idea would be to log some hours as an apprentice at an car audio installation shop, even if just sweeping the floors you'll probably learn lots. Unfortunately in my experience people who work at car audio installation shops tend to be short on social skills, so call around and don't be discouraged if you get an answer you don't like.

Your other option is my favorite three words, "hire a professional." I can't recommend this one enough.

Good luck and be safe.

I think I'm going to get this for my Mom for Christmas along with a Bluetooth kit.

EDIT: Bought the Navtool, just need to ask my installed if he reccommends any cameras besides the ones linked here.

EDIT#2: Just bought the smaller camera as well.

Just an update on the location I placed the DVD unit in the rear.

DVD works flawless with audio fed through the Vaistech unit. Sounds great and remote works well.

Next up is the camera.

I wanted a solid mount yet nothing bolted or screwed into the carpet so I picked up these pieces to fabricate my mount using my trusty Lincoln welder.

It took a while to grind the edges where the pieces were welded but I think it turned out ok and provides overkill in supporting the DVD unit

Installed with wires hidden behind the unit for a clean appearance.

Default OEM audio quality with Ipod Dension Ice link plus

Hi,

Im a new proud lexus sc owner, based in europe (sweden). The problem here is that these cars are quite rear
so its almost impossible to find anything like luxlink, navtool etc. here.

After reading around here and there I couldn't find how to find a "converting tool" or similar to use ones ipod or
mp3 player and get it integrated with the original ML system. Well, I found this:

Ice>Link Plus brings complete integration of the Apple iPod into the vehicle entertainment system! Even better is
that ice>Link Plus features video output for great integration with rear seat entertainment systems. And you can
fully controll the ipod via the steering wheel volume controll system.

The price is like $200 so its not a killer.

Link to dension: www.dension.com (obviously :P)

Hope this help u guys
