Default info on new SC redesign?

Isnt the new SC supposed to be redesigned mid 2007, launched as a 2008 model? quite weird that theres no sketches, or any renderings or pictures that have surfaced yet. Anyone got info?

I have seen a sketch/rendering of what's supposed to be the next SC posted here (I think in Car Chat) a while ago, can't find it though after searching for now.
It's an evolution from the current SC430, but I don't think it's an accurate depiction of the next SC anyway . . .

All I know its going to have the same engine that's used in the LS460 and its using the same platform as the GS/IS. So I have a feeling its going to look the same but just a hardtop convertible, 2-door. One thing I am guessing the price point probably be about $5,000 more than it is now.

The engine / body will be competing against the BMW 6-Series.

One thing I can not wait until Q2 2007.

We might see some working production model soon, probably in the next couple of months, but dont take my word for it.

Where do these rumors come from? Is it wishful thinking or is it read somewhere other than the internet?

I still feel that Toyota spent a lot of money on this car and will want to keep it for as long as possible, plus they just did their model refresh last year so that tells me that they weren't planning on replacing the car next year. On top of everything else, its kind of a low volume car for Lexus and if anything they will just yank it from our shores...

My understanding is that Toyota normally runs a 7 year model life. Within the 7 years, minor changes may be made but nothing big. As the first SC430 was in 2002, perhaps we can see a new design in '08 as a '09 model.

Big changes are happening though.

Toyota and Lexus have stated that their redesigns will occur more often, with models running for 5 to 6 years now, instead of 7. Competition within the auto market now demands quicker changes in performance, technology, and styling.

That might be for 'bread and butter' cars, but not for low production ones; it's just economically unfeasible.
I also doubt very much the SC would be replaced at any less than 6 years, but most likely 7. And with current gas prices, I don't think a low production V8 car is a priority for Lexus right now.

I can believe that. I sort of liked Lexus not completely changing everything each year. Made life easier.

Seeing people willing to spend a nice dollar on a SC or LS, do not really care that much about the price of gas. If you can put more gas in and use less gas, pretty good way to save money sort of.

i have to agree, most people buying this car they don't really care about the 1000 bucks they spend on gas every yr, it's more about the status and style. i have mix feelings about the new sc. imho it's time for it to come out, though of course, i would like to keep my car "new" for longer

It would be nice if the new SC, will be similar to the LF-C Concept, now that would be wicked!

I think the LF-C Concept is what the IS350 convertible will be based on, not the next SC . . . but Lexus had never been very clear about that officially.
