Standard suspension dimensions?
CL MEMBERS
Since the TEIN's are months away, I am going see if I get get a Koni/eibach combination to work. If anyone else has attempted this, would save some homework or headache.
I have a contact in the motorsport game (here is Australia) that builds shocks to suit almost anything, so should be able to get spring rates and valving right. Will be aiming for a adjustable ride height with single bump/rebound adjustment of perhaps 2 way bump and rebound
I've had good experiences with Koni/eibach coilovers before so hoping it can be done again....unless there is something in the original lexus design that can't be duplicated? Perhaps the pillowtop mount?? Might have to use OEM ones...
So can anyone help with dimensions? Saves me pulling the suspension in the off the car to get the measurements if anyone has them lying around on the garage floor.
Need Dimensions for front and rear (millimeters would be good)
Total length from centre of bottom eye to top of pillow mount
Diameter of bottom eye hole
Length of tube (Centre of eye to top of tube)
Length of strut (top of pillow mount to where strut enters tube)
Tube diameter
Strut diameter
Length of spring (uncompressed and compressed state if possilble)
Other measurements which would help but more effort to get. Springs need to be out of the car for this, perhaps someone is about to change struts?
(wheels on) need to get a measurement to centre of hub to level ground to get normal ride height.
Car jacked up one side. Wheels off, the set jacks to simulate normal ride height.
wheel travel distance from normal ride position to bump stop
wheel travel distance from normal ride position to full droop
shock travel distance from normal ride position to bump stop
shock travel distance from normal ride position to bump stop
These numbers will give us the wheel/shock ratio, which can provide some clues as to which Eibach springs to run.
If I am successful with the numbers and there are KONI part numbers that will build the required spec coilovers, then happy to post here for all to share.
Thanks for any assistance
Andrew

Thanks, much appreciated.
Will have to just use a spring compressor on the car to measure bump clearance etc.... and disconnect lower mount to get the droop numbers....
Have you had the wheel alignment done with the JIC's?

Everyone...
Well....there are some options, but not koni's....There is no plans to manufacture anything for the SC430 from Koni at this point in time. There aren't suitable components to build a shock.
There are some other options, Bilstein and Edelbrock...but as soon as you want adjustable damper settings, they become expensive...
Looks like the new TEIN CS will be to go....a new model is due out in May/June. (and looking at the Yen pricing, should be cheaper than the outgoing model)
Thanks Aspguru for taking those measurements for us....
