I stopped for Pizza and parked on the side of the building near the read entrance. As I left, a dude in his 40's came out from the back door, I think he is a cook. He said; "Wow what a beautiful car! How much does one cost? I just did 22 years in the slammer and I am not up on prices." I told him general pricing. He continued; "I did 10 years confined and 12 years as a trustee. I was on a road crew and every time I saw an SC430 go by, I swore I would have one someday. I would love to be driving one on the beach with the top down." I said now's your chance to persue your dreams. Best of luck to you.

Default Prom

I had a good one today. While coming back from filling up and the car completely detailed, a young guy in an Integra pulls along side at the light and asked if he could please use my car for his prom.

You know what, kid was so cool, I was tempted.

While at the SC430 meet in SLO , Lynette and I were walking back to the SC from shopping and I hit the remote start. A couple walking by stopped, looked in the car, looked around, and while we passed them I heard the lady say, "that is just evil" referring to how the car started by itself. We were rolling.

I was cruising thru downtown San Luis Obispo this past weekend and parrallel parked when two ladies walked up and glanced at my front end. They kept saying "Nice Car" which I've heard so many times. They said, "you probably know it already, huh?". I said, "No, Not really, But I'm getting used to it by now". I had to give them a 5 min. speech on where the car came from and aobut the JDM philosophy that originated in Japan and spread like wildfires here in the U.S.

I felt like I had a Ph.D in Lexology that day.

I have to breath life into this old thread as I received yet another compliment on my 2008 Starfire Pearl Lexus SC430 today! It was perfect weather for motoring alfresco today and I took full advantage of it. Full sun, 71 degrees, winds 5 mph. Waiting in traffic for the light to change, an attractive woman driving a silver Chrysler Sebring convertible with a man in the passenger seat says: "You're puttin' me to shame!" I had the Mark Levinson turned up, so I said "I'm sorry, I couldn't hear you..." She replied "I said you're puttin' me to shame over there... Yours is NICE!" Her husband squeezed her right knee a little almost as if to suggest "That's enough now dear..." Lol! I said: "Thank you! At least we both have convertibles!" Traffic then started to move and she said "Enjoy the day!" I don't know what happened at their house after that...

Recently had my car in for service and when I picked it up I made a detour to talk to my service advisor for a minute. When I came out, there was a guy standing next to my car having his photo taken. I approached and he asked if it was mine and how it looked with the top down. I pulled out my spare key, Luxlinked him into a stupor and smiled as he and his friend both lost it watching the car crank up and the top drop. Yeah. Best money I ever spent.

...the wife & I went to the casinos in Louisiana a couple of weeks ago.The weather was nice, the top was dropped & the car was extra clean. We got so many thumbs up driving down the highway, made us feel like celebrities. The icing on the cake, a guy driving a LS460, saw us in a long line of cars entering a casino parking garage. He walked back to the car, checked it out, gave us a compliment, then held his parking spot until we pulled up to his car...he was parked in the first spot, closet to the door !!

Every time I drive it! Hubby says it's me, but I know it's the car! Today I ran up to the store - top up - a 19-20 year old guy asked if it was a convertible, then proceeded to talk about it, and the car he was about to get!

I also have a Lincoln Navigator L with power running boards - THOSE get some attention, too! Usually a point and stare as they deploy!

Reviving an old thread: got complimented very unexpectedly just now. The SC has gone for a week without a wash, has lots of residue of road salt and some ice left on it as I use it as my daily driver and we have had some snow here. So it is real dirty. Pulled into a gas station and the pump guy says, " Wow nice car, wonder whether you should be driving it around under snowy/wintry conditions like these " Then proceeds to tell me how his granddad had a 67 Stang which was fully restored and how he would help polish it.

Guess all the detail work when the weather was warm did help the SC. 11 years old, 86k miles and still getting compliments when she looks like she just came through a snow storm ( which she did). And still able to hustle at 90 mph in 15 degree weather ( when roads are dry of course). What a car !

Default This one was funny

Have had many compliments but this one is the best. I pick my Granddaughter up at middle school everyday and when the weather is really nice I will drive the SC. On one of these days she got in the car and said "When you pick me up in this car could you use the outside lane" I had to ask why, she said "The next day after you pick me up with the top down, all the boys call me 'The Sorority Girl'." After I quit laughing I promised I would.
