For those of you waiting for delivery, or happy because you have your beauty and don't have to worry about this -- looks like Toyota figured out they could already stand a price increase with the high product demand. Extracts from August 6 Press Release:

"The SC 430 hardtop convertible debuted in March as a 2002 model. Beginning with September production, the price will increase 1.0 percent, or $600. Additionally, due to the popularity of the optional Lexus Navigation System, it will become standard equipment, bringing the MSRP for the SC 430 to $61,055."

"The delivery, processing and handling fee for the IS 300 will remain at $545. For the other models, the fee will increase $30 to $575. This change will be effective Sept. 1 for the SC 430 and will become effective for all other 2002 models as they are introduced."

Details at: http://pressroom.toyota.com/

BTW, If you've not been to that site, it's a pretty good one -- press release info, photos, etc.

BertL,

Thanks for the info.. I went back and forth between the Indigo Ink and Millenium Silver.. Glad you are getting it.. Please post pics once you get your car.. The one thing that prevented me from going the Blue route again was ownership of the Spectra Blue on the GS.. Too much maintenance keeping it clean all the time.. Maybe i'm getting old..

Yeah, silver with black interior was (is) my 2nd choice. I would never have expected I'd like the "blue" given that little bit of a sample in the brochure, but saw one at the dealer being prep'd for delivery a few months ago and was absolutely sold on the spot. It's a looker, for sure.

My '95 SC300 is pearl white and I've really loved that -- sparkles like diamonds in the sunlight, but just didn't like the white on the new SC430 for some reason. My '99 RX300 is the two-tone gold, and is just great. It's become my "everyday car" allowing the coupe to only come out on weekends and special events. I suspect you're right about the work I've got coming due to my choice with the darker color, but given the way I baby my cars, hopefully, it should be OK and give me some excercise other than sitting here hunting for new articles and info on the SC430 in my spare moments... I'll sure find out some day. I even have a custom cover for it already -- just in case of too much dust in the garage no less ...and no ETA for the vehicle. Is that commitment, or what? I'll be sure to post some pictures of the Indigo Ink beauty when it finally arrives. At least you are in the countdown for delivery! WOW, THAT'S FABULOUS!

Genearch,

Yes, I think you have the itch even worse than me. Have not redone the garage to quite the same degree as you (yours sounds spectacular!), but everything is cleaned up raring to go including the new flat black license plate frame for the rear and new Zymol wax in the refrigerator waiting to go... My dealer is also very professional in this pre-order situation as well -- calls people on the list in the order of first color preference with appropriate options, then 2nd color preference. I'm number 1,2 or 3 (they keep it secret for some reason -- probably so I won't bug them -- HA HA) on the "blue" list... Like you, they are having about a 50% drop out rate (3 months ago they had 140 people on the list, but were just about to deliver to #100). A very strange crap shoot and frustrating on the buyers side (probably the salesman's too) not having a clue when it will or may happen. Best part is the deposit check has never been cashed, remains stapled in the salesman's file folder in his desk, and they give a full refund if you back out -- pretty classy joint -- but then again, that's part of the reason this will be Lexus #3.

Cool

Reason for the 50% dropout is many put down deposits at multiple dealerships, and will take the first one that comes in, then dump and run on the other dealerships.
Best way to get yours early is to be very specific on the color and option you wish. You will be at the top of the list when that specific car comes in.
Hope you enjoy your new SC430 as much a I do.
