Default SC 430 Battery Replacement

Does anyone know of an exact replacement battery for 2002 SC430. I need a make and model number for an exact fit if possible.

If the car is still under warranty, which a 2002 would be, the battery replacement is free, and they will do it as roadside service. At least it was under my plan.

Thank you. I went to a Lexus dealer and they said the same thing. I picked up the new battery and will keep it on a maintenence charger since I don't drive the car much. I will install it myself.

That's nice to know.

For what it's worth, my car is one of the oldest on the road, as I picked it up in March or maybe April of '01, just a few weeks after they became available (after 18 months on the "waiting list" where I was #15 at my dealership -- when I picked up the car, there were 150 on the list, but I think they all have their cars now.)

But I digress. My battery is still going strong and shows no signs of weakness, even though the normal battery life, especially of original batteries, tends to be, I thought, about 3 years or so.

Of course, after reading the above posts, I realize that my battery is waiting for the warranty to expire before crapping out on me.

Full report to follow.

For those of us in the lower 48, just about any car battery lasts about 3 years.
Mine just died a couple of months ago. It wasn't terribly hot or cold, and there was no warning.
I've come to expect it here in Texas -- it has always happened to me.
I miss having a voltage gauge in cars...

My battery was under warranty, but I didn't even think about it. I took it to Sears, and they had a good replacement, but we had to cut away some of the battery cover (just where the drain tube was).

After they replaced the battery, I noticed that the daytime running lamps were flickering, which I thought was an alternator problem. It isn't -- apparently all SCs do it, I just never noticed.

I bet it you go to your dealership with the Sears invoice they would consider reimbursing you for the replaced battery. Worth a try!

Default Interstate MTPH-6

I have just replaced my battery in an 03. The exact replacement is an Interstate battery MTPH-6.
Mine went out due to my own negligence. Last winter I had failed to fully close one of the doors. That caused the battery to drain down completely as I only check/run the car about once a month during the winter when I keep it in storage. In any event, once a car battery is completely drained it is finished, kaput. I was able to recharge it a couple of times but it wouldn't hold the charge for very long. Eventually it wouldn't even hold a charge. I bought the battery locally and sent the receipt to my dealer($134.00/$124.00+$10.00 tax)) and he reimbursed me for the full price.

Funny you should mention that. When I found that the battery was under warranty, I called Sears. They won't take batteries back after they've been installed (even though it was only 20 minutes old!).

But the dealer replaced the battery with their Interstate one, and DID reimburse me for the Sears one!
Can't say enough about the service I get.
