Default UZZ32 Active Suspension Soarers in USA?

Hi guys

Was just wondering if you guys in the USA got the UZZ32 Active Soarer with factory hydraulics?
Also, did you all get that analogue dash, or do some have the digital dash?

Cheers,

I'm not sure about the suspension, but I know that the US only got the anaglog dash. These cars were equipped with a digital dash, navigation system, and other cool stuff, but none of that made its way over here.

at least you guys got them!
all soarers in australia are grey imports, that is, we bought them in japan and shipped them over, never got them new from toyota/lexus!

needless to say a few of them are quite dodgey!

can someone take a photo of their non digital dash for me? i'm curious to see what they look like..

cheers

We did not get the active suspension, 4 wheel steering, digital dash, touch screen controls, rear window wiper, power folding mirrors, or TEMS. Its a shame, too, because I think those options would have sold well here. (not to mention the 2.5 TT we never got here)

Even with a $100,000+ price tag?

The active suspension/4 wheel steering model was almost twice as much as a normal V8 Soarer. It was an experiment to see what could be done, without thinking about profitability - hence only 870 were made.

On the other hand, the regular V8 Limited got Air suspension, touch screen, optional reversing camera and the folding mirrors (which are almost standard on all Japanese cars because of the lack of parking spaces).

The digital dash was not popular in western countries for some reason. Perhaps Toyota decided not to put it in the SC after the abysmal sales of digital dash-equiped Celicas (Option on the '86-'89 models)

Not sure why they didnt put the TV in there. Again, i believe it was a very expensive option, so that could be the reason. Also, they (lexus) had alot riding on the success of the early cars they released. They knew they had to prove that they were a step above the rest, and they probably figured that it was safer to exclude the some electrical options so there was less chance of failure...

Mecedes seems to have no problem selling all the cars they can build at 100K. However, I do agree that ten years ago, Lexus was still new in the game, so they did not feel the market could handle such a high end lux car from Japan. I still think that it would have been nice to at least have the opportunity to select those items as extra cost, special order options. From what I understand the active susp./4 wheel steering models were heavy and slow. A fully optioned Soarer LTD V8 would have made a nice top end SC400 here.

Rushgator,
The UZZ32 is as you described, but it's the best handling. I was looking into buying one up for sale a while ago, however my friends advised my to be cautious of the dealer, so I ended up buying a twin turbo from another dealer with a better reputation. If only I had the cash for two Soarers!

not included in this photo is a smaller dot matrix display below that displays warning and error messages (in japanese) as well as fuel usage, trip distance, current state of world economy, and random jokes.. (maybe not the last two then )
Taken from this page, which has more photos of the dash

yes but it brings whole new problems of the dash being on the blink!

when the dash doesn't work, theres nothing there except this big black creepy hole where the dash should be......

people have converted these to blue light based dashs (just changing the globes) which looks absolutely awesome

Are you sure it was that high? Maybe you did the price conversion wrong, because it seems unlikely that a car would cost $100,000+ in 1991.
