All I know is that the trunks and hood on our cars are made of high strength steel so I don't mind the weight.
Is that a good thing? Honest question. The Supra uses an aluminum hood that doesn't weigh much more than CF, and I haven't heard any negatives to its lighter construction on a platform very similar to ours. What are the advantages to a very strong/heavy hood? Protection against very heavy hail storms?? It doesn't serve much of a crumple zone purpose, does it?
This thread is over a decade old guys lol... but... I just weighed my trunk lid with emblems, carpet, arms and the flat wing as linked below and got 31.72 exactly..
