Ive been wanting to dye my interior lately and need some help.
Whos dye'd their interior and it lasted for more than a year. What did you use? Even after cleaning it with cleaning supplies (dash cleaner etc.)??
Im thinking of dying my dash and some trims here and there.
Will dye work effectively on leather like it will on the dash?
I'd recommend just dying everything black if your tan is bad, I'm starting to do certain pieces and I am really happy with how the Leather it turned out, although I Have most black interior pieces already. Use the "Classic Coat" it works awesome its 15$ a can and you'll probably need like 8 to do the whole thing, if you take your time you can make it look like an original Black interior, but you have to be patient let everything dry. The spraying technique is important as well, so spray the edges first and then top. it will last if you do it right.
CatmanD3W What kind of prep work went into the dash pieces? Did you sand anything down? How difficult is it to remove these pieces without breaking clips? Is there a DIY guide to removing the interior pieces?
You mentioned using Rite for fabric, which fabric exactly? The carpet?

Stripped my interior last year with my buddy to install Dynamat, run new wiring for sound system, and installed new speakers. I then took dash to upholstery shop and had it professionally painted while I was having my door and rear panels reupholstered. Only my dash was painted. The other other black parts are OEM black pieces I purchased.

Any of the pieces that were sprayed with SEM landau black....each piece i washed with soap and water and then used either the vinyl or leather prep spray.....then a few coats of the black..
For the carpet I applied the Rit fabrc dye straight out of the bottle......and rubbed it into fabric with a nylon brush.....I wanted it to be as black as possible that......
Removal of the dash pieces is a major PITA....I will never take it apart ever again...
