4. Do you feel you got a good deal (did the car break down after purchase, incur high repair costs, etc)? Yes. I was very happy with the purchase. The paint is not the best, and the interior had some issues, but the motor and trans were rock solid. Also had a maintenance record that was 6 miles long. I'm currently in the first stage of a VVTi/a650e swap that I picked up for 200 bucks.

5. Roughly how much did you pay for your SC? $1900, talked him down from $2700.

1992 SC300 5 speed. Had 60,000 miles on it when I bought it off the original owner in 2012. Always garaged, never driven in the snow, always serviced at the Lexus dealer, timing belt done at 55k 2-3 years prior, always waxed, ie this guy took phenomenal care of it. Looked like a 1 year old certified preowned car when I picked it up, 100% original paint, interior was mint except the typical dash vent crack, not a door ding on the car. Only issue was a set of 10 year old tires on it that didn't ride smooth.

Paid $8500 for it back in August 2012. I know that is a lot of $$$$, but I figured it was one of the cleanest 5 speed SC300's in the country. It now has 86,000 miles on it, I still maintain that its one of the cleanest 5 speed SC300's you'll find. Friends call it the "Fresh Lex"

I think I got a great deal. Only downside is it is salvage title but it's a car I plan to keep for quite some time so not a big deal to me! Body only has a few dings, paint is cracking, interior is damn near flawless though, needed new tires but I was fine with that.
