Lol this is an SC forum! I'm not a fan of the IS-F though, the styling just doesn't appeal to me. If I saw one debadged I wouldn't know if it was a Mazda or an Infiniti.(Nothing against either, just doesn't scream Lexus to me).
lol wut? the ISF is already more rare than the SC and its a new model car.

you are comparing an expensive car to a car people use for daily beaters. i still say keep the SC since its cheap to keep around. the ISF you will put a lot of money back in your pocket after selling.

I'm my opinion as car enthusiast and understanding car trends let me tell you a two door rear wheel drive manual transmission luxury car it will never be replace as easy as a 4door sedan
Keep the sc unless you change cars very often and don't care
To give u a example try to buy a new Lexus Rc manual transmission wishfull thinking in the other hand get a new Gs-F as soon as they arrive Is-F replacement easy to do

SaintLexus, I have to agree with the others that the 1997 SC300 5-speed you have is indeed rare and WILL be hard to replace. It may need a lot of engine work to make it as fast as your IS-F but the R&D is all there from Toyota and even without engine work it does have a unique driving feel compared to many other RWD two-door coupes.

It's arguably the most fun and desirable version produced.

To give some perspective, here's an article Jalopnik did a week or two ago listing EVERY brand new manual transmission car on sale in the US today. You'll notice that other than economy cars there aren't too many in the RWD performance category other than the usual suspects.

http://oppositelock.jalopnik.com/eve...day-1688229050

Some (but NOT all) modern automatics and many modern dual-clutch transmissions have surpassed the efficiency and performance a manual gives... but I really don't feel that's the point of owning a car with a stick. It's just fun. Of course you lose a minuscule amount speed between shifts but on the street especially what does that matter?

Your IS-F will always hold more value because it was a high performance in-demand model when it was brand new. Lexus chose to hold back from the US market all the standard options the Soarer came with in Japan and as a result it can't match the off-the-showroom-floor resale value the IS-F had from the start. But the IS-F is competing with much newer cars from BMW, Mercedes, Cadillac and maybe soon Infiniti. That four-door performance sedan category isn't going anywhere. Not from Lexus or anyone else.

RWD two-door coupes with manual transmissions and and classic car feel that is also highly refined (for its day) are not going to be any more common with time. Lexus has already made it very clear they aren't even going to try to include a good manual in a performance model again. Toyota... different story and different offerings.

It comes down to what you like and personally value more. The car(s) you own should always speak to you. They're enough upkeep regardless so I think that's a valid statement. Both your SC and IS-F are special cars. Both will be classics in their own right but they are very different cars.

I happen to have both, except I don't need to do a 2JZ-GTE transplant, and I have a Getrag 233 in mine, not an Aisin W58. It all comes down to what you want to do. I can't sell either of mine, the wife has already told me the Supra must stay, and I need a four door for the rest of life.

Figure out what you really want, then decide.

SC fanatics are not your best source of objective opinions on selling an SC. I'm pretty confident if you posted this in the IS F forum the answers would be exactly the opposite.

If only keeping both were an option. That being said, I would sell the IS-F not because I like the SC more, but because you free up a lot of coin selling the IS-F. Unfortunately can't be said for the SC, at least compared to what you would get for the F.

Just wanna say thanks you guys. And the final verdict is in... IS-F's gotta go! In my own personal opinion about the sc for being a 20 year old car, well almost, the quality is there and that's all I have to say. As we all know.... For this year, 1997, there were only 120 of them... Two great enough reasons to keep her.

Good choice! It's a shame you can't keep both cars though. The IS-F is a lot of fun.
