Congrats op!!
That's a great deal, ofcourse depends on the condition of the car and accident free history!!
From pics, with it being dirty hard see, as long as it drives nice, it's a beautiful 98 sc400!!

I'm liking the wheels myself very much and they suit the sc very well , but I would recommend to lower it just a little to look and handle another notch higher, but don't do anything else to it

Thank you, and so you I should lower it to handle turns etc better? The wheels are a littleeee too big and they rub the plastic when I turn but just slightly. Even then I'm planning on putting on some 18 or 19s. The current are 20s. You're really helpful man, much appreciated

Default Nice find

Don't worry about price and don't look back! I bought my 97 SC400 4.5 years ago. It was almost a time warp black/black leather, garage kept, etc. Low mileage (65K) and I paid $12K. No regrets at all. After almost 5 years of trouble free driving, it has 135K miles and looks better than new. Highly6 recommend that you go to no more than 18" rims, and if you lower, should consider Tanabe springs with Tokico blues . . just about a 1 inch drop, doesn't mess up suspension and looks good. Ride quality barely affected. Enjoy

Yes, 18s are a good size, it's a ballance between ride comfort, weight and performance.
If you're planning on lowering it in the future, make sure you do your suspension homework.
With bigger wheels and softer suspension, you will scrape and even may lose some of your wiring inside your ds fender. Be sure to go with a firmer springs and shocks combo, so that doesn't happen.
But, if you want to keep it luxurious, don't do any of the above that I wrote, other than replacing with stock parts and smaller wheels.
As for a door not being able to open, there are some posts about fixing it, with a little help of seach, you'll be able to tackle that with no problem.
This is a great forum with a lots of help and info.

You forgot looks. Because 16s or 17s will rank ahead of 18s in all three of the above criteria.

super clean car!
but at that price, i probably would have dropped the extra money on top for an E43 M3. re-sell value will be much better with those.

I was looking at a 98 sc400 and was wondering if they had any teething issues with the first year Dist less ignition. Would it be good to hold out for 99-00?

Default nice ride

You did okay on the price because that's what nice low mileage cars go for.

The wheels really do look good.

I wouldn't have an Audi if you GAVE me one. The Audi transmission will go out and cost as much as he just paid for a vintage SC.

Perfect color and great condition, perfect price. I'd say you did very well. Just some fitment/stance tuning and you'll be done! Drive it and enjoy it!
