Quite frankly, that is the exact purpose the SC was designed for. Other than it guzzling premium gas at 20-25mpg, my car would make the trip without fault.

I would trust my 300 and my 400. Thats what all this darn maintenance is for!

I would trust my SC as well, even with over 280k...it's all about the maintenance as Studiogeek said. This is the main reason I focus on maintenance before anything else.

Yep. Took both my SC's on a 500 mile trip recently and planning on going on another 500-700 mile trip in March or April.

Lol not at all.
I make a 350 mile trip regularly with the SC, but with the luck I've been having with it I wouldn't feel safe. Everything seems to be breaking on this car all the time.

Well, I've done a 500 mile trip on both my SC's. And the new owner drove the 400 from San Diego to Phoenix. And that's with 212k miles on it.

I personally havent driven the car more than 200-300 miles but it has done it flawlessy......even with the GTE swap and single turbo....love the sound on the highway cruising with the BW...sounds like a semi truck

But before I owned the car it took took a trip from Montana to PA...it was also still in stock form for the trip

Like others have mentioned maintenance is the most crucial part for longevity and reliability of these cars

I wouldn't trust mine. My SC's steering is so bad that I wouldn't even drive it across town. Once I replace everything it should be safe for long trips.

furthest i've driven with mine is 70 miles there and back, so 140 miles. everything went fine, but i wouldn't trust it right now, still a few things to do and fix until i'll drive around the country.

Just did nearly 1200 miles in two days - Washington to California. Averaged 26-27 with the SC400 with no problems whatsoever. Agree, these cars are made for this!

and the gas prices around this time! $2.29-2.59- chevron (depends on the location) premium which is what's recommended and which is what I use for the cars that i've owned and for the cars i currently own. you can't go wrong!
