Id almost say pull the wheels and store them away, they made it this far let them rest there feet a while. there may be a time at car show in the future that you might want to put them on, Instead of saying you had them but a curb had its way with them.

Just my personal opinion.

Yea I will definitely be keeping these wheels now that I know they are the rare ones. I want to pick up a cheap used set of different model wheels off Craigslist since they seem to be a dime a dozen. Will all model Lexus wheels pretty much fit this car? I was thinking maybe a set off of a later GS model or something? That's great on the drain bolt on the AT pan, I have never had the luxury of having the drain bolt on the pan lol! Would the AT filter still be fine at 167k or should I change it, then after that do drain and refill intervals? Also no one ever said if it would be okay to use the Maxlife Full Synthetic ATF?

I know the Maxlife Full Synthetic ATF is a good tranny fluid because I use it on my Mercedez Benz E320. I used it just because the freaking MB fluid is damn so expensive which is at least 4 or 5 times more.

The price of the Maxlife and Toyota ATF auto tranny fluid is not far from each other. I believe I spent $45 for a case at the dealership. If I where you I will use the Toyota ATF fluid since it is well proven on their transmissions.

To the OP, congrats on the pickup! Way cooler than a Yukon. Shouldn't be an issue going from a v8, to a v8 gas wise. Wheels may be rare, but ugly. I say sell them as is, or refurb and then sell. Pick up a cool looking, cheep set of 17-19" wheels. It help to go for wheels with a bore of 60.1mm off bat, to avoid hub adapters. A quick search on eBay with that bore size, yields a lot of results!

Thanks again everybody. I plan to restore the BBS wheels and use them for show purposes or if someone decides to give me good $ for them. I really like the 5-spoke 17in wheels that used to come on the GS400's. My mom had a 98 that had them on there and it looked great! Will those fit directly on the SC400? If you all know the wheels I'm talking about lol

And if you look at my pictures, the 17s look great. Only thing I will add, is small spacers in the rear, for the more aggressive stance. Tires have meat, so perfect for pits and pot holes.

And Lexus wheels are always the right bore size if I'm not mistaken. 60.1mm. When I get 18's, I'm going 5 spoke again. Just looks perfect!

Yes! Those are the ones SC400Zulu, I looked at your car and it looks great. I like the look of the wheels combined with the 1.25 drop. I hope someday mine will look as good as yours!

Welcome and congratulations, 93SC400LEX! The car is a looker! Ditto on the rarity of those factory wheels. Something about those really sets off these cars.

Adding onto gerrb's post on ATF fluid, do note that these cars also use Toyota ATF (Dexron II type) for the power steering reservoir. Do not use normal "power steering fluid". I don't know if Toyota/Lexus still do this but it was a characteristic of many of their 1990's models.

Why is it that you can't use regular old power steering fluid? I also noticed the car has a Engine Cooling Fan Fluid reservoir? Does this just take the Dextron II also? How do I go about getting all power steering fluid out to refill with the Dextron just to make sure that is indeed what's in there?

the dexron thing is a long story , its now dexron type 4 and no you can't put in regular power steering fluid

search on dexron type 4 , oem toyota fluid on here on with the LS400 guys

I got lucky and bought the car from a mechanic who I think needed the money. The car has $6500 in upgrades. Daizen F/R sways, which is the best and rare, since they're no longer in business. Came with brembo rotors and everything else I have listed. Only thing left for me to do, is a supra tt upgrade all around. But I did find a deal on 8pot calipers!!!

But yeah, that, tints, straight pipes from cats to Borla, LSD, audio upgrades, 1" larger wheels with wider rear wheel, fix the small gash on my quarter panel, super buff and wax, she'll be done.

Great find man, very clean. Although I'm an outcast in this, I have always thought those wheels were ugly.. I know I know, rare and eclectic to its age but still lol...

Either way, very clean and welcome SC club! May as well bookmark this site along with driftmotion and ebay for all the little odd things you're going to need over the years..
