How Much for 1995 5-Speed
So Ive been looking for SC300s for the longest time, and i stumbled upon this one. Its a oe owner car from Virginia, teal on tan 1995 SC300 with the 5 manual, the car itself is in nearly mint condition except for the tear in the driver seat and the climate control screen. The thing is, it has 275k miles, almost all of which were done in Virginia and serviced by the dealer, last visit being done at 271k miles for a NYS inspection and an oil change. The clutch changed at 240k, a/c system overhaul at 230, new drive belt tensioner, and all the other odds and ends. Has good brakes and a new set of bridgeston potenza tires. My question is, how much would you pay? The car it extrodinarly clean, but 275k miles is quite a lot, even for me. He is asking $2900, which is less than NADA and KBB for the condition its in, but as many will say its worth what people will ay for it. It lso still has both keys and keyless entry. Attached are two pictures, any input would be great. As for timing belt, it was last changed at 190k a few years ago.

alignment on the front highbeam is off on the passenger side and you can see where the hood line gets real close to the bumper, I would check for a front end collision, pop hood and check the frame parts for new paint or anything that looks out of places. check both front fenders for the toyota sticker they will be in the engine bay where the hood closes on the lip part of the fender. if there is no sticker that panel has been replaced. if its done well its not a big deal but something to be aware of.
IF everything is straight and maybe someone just put the bumper on lazily or didn't align that light then for a 5 speed its a good price even with the miles if it runs good and has a good clutch. Interior does look pretty decent except for seat and screen (screen is annoying to replace) I would still haggle. ITs a 95 so it should have the glass highbeams which is why they look shinier than the other headlights. confirm the passenger one is also glass and shiny otherwise it may have been replaced. likely with a car that old its probably been painted or fixed before. Its def due for a timing belt which is another good bargaining chip.

The passenger side is broken fron someone bumping it in the lot (theres an extra included) which is why the bumper looks slightly off, but looking at it it really was minor. I should have included that information, my apologies. I did drive it and it drove well, and i should state it will not be my DD, but instead a second car. I am in no rush, so i will let the car sit a while longer, and if it doesn't sell anytime soon, I think this will benefit me.

you're lucky to find any sc's in ny, I don't think I would even hesitate if its as decent as you say.
Ive seen way worse for much more money, but that just seems to be the market here.

It looks like it's been maintained by a decent owner, but still at 275K you might have to replace a lot of little things. I would tell him $2000. $2500 max. Usually people tend to leave $4-500 play room in an advertised price. If I see a car for $2900, I know the guy wants $2500. I think you could get it for $2400.

that's what I was thinking, Ill let it sit for a while and if after a month or two it doesn't sell I'll hit him with 2k and see what happens. As I said it would be a second car and it's always been a Lexus I've wanted to own, especially a manual. Thanks for the input. I will say this, seeing a rust free car even underneath is great especially in NY. I got my GS from Florida and it has really made things such as changing suspension components a breeze

95 5 speeds are different than early years as well. The shifter sits a little lower in the 95-97 than the pre 95's. $2900 isn't a bad price at all. I recently picked up a '99 black on black and was lucky enough to come across a '95 crashed SC with 51K original miles! I picked up the tranny, clutch, all pedals and every bolt and am swapping it into my '99. I'm dailying my car and no boost so I didnt need the R154 or Getrag for this set up so a low-mileage W58 was perfect and came in with perfect timing.
If I were you, I would go see the car and then toss out $2200 as a figure. Eventually, you will meet in the middle at $2500 and you will drive away a happy Lexus owner.
